I like it.....now
Pros: good picture still and video
Cons: not good in low light, no mic input
I work for a TV station, but didn't have a camera of my own. I picked this up because I was doing some undercover work and wanted a camera I could hide easier. It had a manual focus which I really wanted but it is not turn the focus ring and directly connected to the glass type. I initially hated the file type it records to... some stupid MOD extension. The only way I could get it into avid to edit video was put it through another program to make to quicktime or avi. But I now use adobe premiere elements which accepts all kinds of video types...so the that problem is gone....btw adobe premiere elements is awesome for the $90 price tag for someone looking for a decent editing software to try. With the camera and software I've put together pieces that have aired on tv...the quality is good enough and also 16:9. But lack of a mic input means it won't be something I would use to record interviews with...just shoot images with. And without a light kit stills and video indoors tward the night time won't look good either. But outdoors during the day is just awesome. nice 5mp stills will make nice 8x10s...anything larger and you will want more mega pixels. Pros: Small
Cons: Non Mac Compatibility, poor software, lousy support
Image quality for video and photo is bad.
Auto focus inefficient.
No connectivity with Mac unless you buy a program on a Japanese site and you cannot test it!!
The programs provided to work with the PC are very limited and when you use the full version they have nothing to do with the Mac products.

Pros: Videa Quality and ease of use
Cons: Photo quality
I found the photo quality a bit weak, but I like everything else about this camcorder. It records night video well, but requires the user to use advanced settings. If it is very dark, you need to adjust the shutter speed to 1/30 and use the gain. I did record a full 1hr of video on one battery, but found that when taking pictures and video and or playing with the settings the battery lasted around 1/2hr.
The photos look good at 3mp, but when taken at full resolution look a bit grainy and noisy.Was this review helpful? Yes - No
