The stereo mini jack connection allows you to enjoy high quality audio from a variety of devices such as iPod, iPod mini, MP3 and CD players, desktop computers (all platforms), laptops and most portable devices.

Touch Volume Control - Just a touch increases or decrease the volume. A touch on both pads mutes or un-mutes the system. JBL On Tour also remembers your last volume setting even after the system shuts down.

Integrated protective Cover and Stand. The sliding cover protects your sound system and serves as a stand when open. The surface gripping rubber feet provide a stable platform on most surfaces. A universal AC adapter allows for easy worldwide use. An audio input cable is also included.

The JBL On Tour combines many proprietary technologies to provide the highest quality sound and playing time. The JBL On Tour will provide astonishing bass and clear accurate sound from a pocket-sized system.

The Class D digital amplifiers provide clean, powerful sound while extending battery life.

The two aluminum-domed transducers are driven by powerful Neodymium magnets. This design provides a full rich frequency response from the lowest bass to the highest highs.

COE (Computer Optimized Equalization) - The JBL On Tour system equalization was computer optimized to provide a rich, complete sound stage.

The JBL On Tour system has an automatic battery saving shutoff. The AEMS (Advanced Energy Management System) will automatically put the system into sleep mode when the cover is closed or when there is no audio input. The JBL On Tour awakens with just a touch and resumes at the same volume level when the cover is opened or the input resumes.

The JBL On Tour is designed to use most types of AAA batteries. Four fresh AAA batteries provide over 24 hours of continuous play at normal to high listening levels. An amber LED flashes when the battery protection circuit senses the batteries are low. JBL encourages the use of rechargeable types of batteries (i.e. NiMH and Lithium). These batteries reduce waste and help the environment.

    Best Portable Speakers

By gcleric2  Nov 21, 2005 | 2 out of 2 found this JBL On Tour review helpful

Pros: Compact, superb design & sound quality, reasonably priced

Cons: A little low on bass

I teseted several top rated portable speakers, for me none came close to JBL On Tour(well, only one, Altec Lansing IMplus). On Tour's sound quality is superb, coming from such a small unit! I loved the design.(It resembles one of those whisky fla...sks):) Price of course is very reasonable. If you're the kind who goes out of town, and doesn't want to part with your audio system at home, this is the solution for you. Just slide this inside your jacket's inside pocket or backpack, with your mp3 on the othe side and you're ready to go. The only flaw I found is that it lacks a little bass, other than that it's something you'll never part with. ...nuff said. :) Read more Less

Pros: Great sound for compact speakers!

Cons: White! Why must everything be Ipos white?!?

I purchased these speakers about a year ago and thought there were great. I ended up returning them since I had no further use for them and made another purchase. About a month ago I ended up buying a pair of Creative Travel Sound since I didnt not w...ant to spend $100 on these speakers again. Big mistake. The Creative speakers were good but no comparison to these JBL ones. Lucky I found them online for only $50 so I traded away the Creative speakers and bought these. Having these speakers again made me see my mistake in buying the Creative ones. These have much better sound and are very clear even at highest volume setting This is pretty much the best battery powered speaker system you can buy for under $100 Read more Less

    JBL On Tour

The On Tour is a nifty travel system that, at current street prices ($65 to $70), is a good value in the portable iPod speaker market. Although it doesn't sound as good as our favorite portable system, the $180 inMotion iM3, or even the $80 to $100 Logic 3 i-Station, the On Tour is less expensive, about 2/3 the size, and several ounces lighter, making it a good fit for a laptop bag, backpack, or briefcase. And compared to the less expensive systems we've recommended, such as the $35 Pacific Rim Cube Travel Speakers, it provides significantly better sound. If the On Tour is in your price range, and you're willing to sacrifice bass for portability, you'll definitely want to consider it. Read more
