Pros: They Didnt try something differnt

    Cons: None

I think Godsmack did a great job on the cd. They didnt try something new unlike greenday or system of a down and that is what made me buy the cd. They didnt fix something that wasnt broken and that gives me more respect towards them. I have recomende...d to several people to buy the cd. Read more Less

Pros: Great songs, awesome vocals, and great lyrics

    Cons: not enough songs!!!

I had just bought the new Godsmack cd and I absolutley love it. The lyrics are great and Sully Erna sounds awesome in the new cd. Godsmack has been one of my favorite bands since there first self titled cd, and in my opinion they just keep getting be...tter with every new one. If you love rock music I highly recommend this cd. Godsmack may never garner the kind of praise that's bestowed upon its obvious influences (Metallica, Alice in Chains, Tool) but the hardworking Boston quartet has managed to stay at the top of the alternative metal heap for nearly eight years. IV, produced by frontman Sully Erna, doesn't stray too far from the formula, relying on big midtempo brooders and heavy, DropD riffs to work in the usual themes of loneliness, betrayal, and the overuse of the word "bleeding." For the most part it's cliché done well the record opens with an audio collage of children saying their prayers before bed and the band can turn it up to 11 with the best of them. Stadiumsized cuts like "Speak," "Enemy," and "Temptation" are sure to please the masses they even bring out the vocoder for "No Rest for the Wicked" and fans brought into the fold with 2004's acoustic Other Side EP will eat up the pensive, mandolinled "Hallow," but there's little growth to be found, resulting in a textbookexecuted slice of comm...ercial aggression. - James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide Read more Less
