It's A Wonderful Life

This movie is a timeless classic. In black and white it keeps the focus on the theme of the movie. We all have a point in our life where everything just seems pointless and we question how we affect the world around us.

Pros: A plausible story and wonderful acting
Cons: A hokey beginning; phoney snow; erratic ageing
Jimmy Stewart is perfect in the role of George Bailey, whose
heart-wrenching travails are told over a 30-year period. Henry Travers is especially perfect as Clarence, his guardian angel. It's a wonderful Christmas film, but some will find it very depressing. The colorized version helps its uplifting qualities.Was this review helpful? Yes - Noslap my sore ear

Easily the best Xmas flic of all time. From the beg. to end: w/ George as a boy, to the "hot dog!"s to the sam wainwright "hee haws"s, to buffalo gals, to the dance/pool party. I could go on and on.
Mr. Gower, poor Mr. Gower, lay off the booze. Don't slap his sore ear, George kept you out of the big house.
Anyone who can lasso the moon is OK w/ me.
Poor Burt. Poor Oak tree owner. But they take the two best quotes:
1. George: "Now get outta here, Burt, or I'll hit you again. Gggetttattaaerre."
2. George: "Well either he's off his rocker or I am. Or you are."
A close 3rd, Nick: "We serve haahd drinks for men who wanna get drunk fast. And we don't need any jokesters in hea to give da' place atmosphere."
@ the end, watch the face on the bank examiner after he dumps loot in the basket for George as he joins in the sing-along....hysterical.
Also, can anyone make out Annie's entire sentence? All I can make out is "...if I eva I getta husband!"
Brings a tear every time. Best cameo appearance: in the 2nd best Xmas movie of all time, National Lampoon's Xmas Vacation as they show ZuZu saying:

This has to be one of the best films ever made.
You will never get tired of watching it. It brings tears to my eyes every time and I've been watching it now for almost 40 years.
I love my wife so much and the scene near the end, where he starts appreciatively hugging and kissing his wife, just tears me up inside.

If you are down in the dumps with the winter and holiday doldrums, pop this classic in the old vcr for a jumpstart to renew your faith. The talented Jimmy Stewart takes us on a roller coaster ride and back again, in a Wizard of Oz sort of way - the dream, the return to reality, the realization of what is really important - the love of family and friends over material things. Using Christmas as a backdrop makes it special at this time of the year, too.

this is about the best 'family', 'christmas story', 'deal with life' film ever done. i could watch this anytime - winter, spring, summer or fall! and it will always makes me cry. to finally realize, friends and family will do anything for each other. GREAT! GREAT! movie.

probably one of the only christmas movies that will bring tears to your eyes. It is heartwarming and it brings your spirit up not just at christmas but anytime you watch it. I highly recommend it. MERRY CHRISTMAS MOVIE HOOOOOOOOUSE!!

I'm a brazilian girl and my english isn't so good but this film... wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!!!!!!!!!! Forever! My favorite! James Stewart is insuperable, he's my favorite too. The story is very sweet and make us believe. It's hope, faith, love and joy! Celebration of life.

This is one of the best movies ever made. I watch it every year around the Holidays. It serves as a reminder that things are never as bad as they seem and that "you aren't a failure if you have friends..."

One of my favorites. The acting, scenary, directing, and script are nearly flawless. I watched this numerous times, and it still remains fresh. In my opinion, the two best scenes are when George eats his last meal with his father and when he is at Martini's bar saying a prayer. Two amazingly simplistic yet poignant scenes that manage to reach me every time.

This is such a classic now that it's hard to remember that it didn't do very well on its first release; it was considered too depressing. James Stewart is superb, both in his portrayal of the eager young man and the embitered older one.
And it IS available in the UK! Or it was, some y ears back, when I got my copy from a high street store. It has a piece by Frank Capra Jr on the making of the film, on his fther and Stewart. Very interesting.Was this review helpful? Yes - NoIt`s A Wonderful Movie!

impossible to rent or purchase in the UK..when i ask people here if they have heard of the movie... they answer they have not heard of it.. their loss.. I will order it in DVD format and encourage people to watch it... a wonderful, heartwarming,family movie a must see every christmas..I never tire of it a jimmy stewart/capra classic. never too late to see it for the first time.. where have the brits been if they havent seen this.

The perennial holiday classic. If you havent yet seen Its a Wonderful Life (and most have), then do so this Frank Capra/James Stewart masterpiece just gets better and better with age. How such a simple story that becomes so uplifting is a testament to the direction of Capra and the aura of Stewart. The B&W photography is first-class, as are the supporting cast which shows how much inspired casting can do for a film. Beware of colourised versions, and only insist on the original. Its a Wonderful Life is indeed a most wonderful film.

This move has a really good moral: You touch more people than you realize, and everybody is here for a purpose. I think it is a wonderful movie, not only at Christmas, but year round, and I love watching it. Great acting, super story,& unforgettable characters.

It's a Wonderful Life is a must see a holiday classic. It embodies the the spirit of the season and is truly heartwarming. Capra conveys the theme of man's place in the universe through the life of George Bailey (one of American film's greatest character) and his angel. It's a must see classic for all ages and all likes. I highly recommend it.
