Introduced to most by the slick single "Town Walk," Trilltown Mafia seemed like your everyday slick crew attached to some superstar in this case, Trillville's Don P. with serviceable skills but without their own voice. "Town Walk" is a great cut, and surprisingly It Goes Without Sayin is a great album, thanks to Don P.'s hookedfilled production and Trilltown's more than serviceable ability to follow him from slick to street without sounding forced. Straight gutter, "Chit Chat" comes from the school of Eightball MJG while "Intoxicated" feels very UGK, although both tracks retain the slight Lil Jon and heavy Trillville influence than runs throughout the album. "We Bound" has an irresistible stomp and swagger while the bitter "Same Hustle" gives up the good lyrics and suggests these spitters could offer something more substantial in the future. That's the albums big drawback. Save for "Same Hustle" and a couple other interesting moments that began to flush out Trilltown's character, it...'s boast, party, and ridin' dirty the whole way through, and the individual personalities for better or worse fall victim. It Goes Without Sayin is more a showcase of Don P.'s ability to turn beats and loops into wicked weekend bangers, so forget the headphones and throw this one in the ride. - David Jeffries, All Music Guide Read more Less
