In 1997, guitarist Aaron Turner, bassist Jeff Caxide, drummer Aaron Harris, and vocalist Chris Mereschuk formed the Boston-based metalcore band Isis. Isis gained popularity touring with the likes of Dillinger Escape Plan, Eyehategod, and Soilent Green. In 1998 they recorded their debut EP Mosquito Control.
