Pros: It really showcases his skills as a prouducer

Cons: Thealbum shows his prowess as a producer, but not as an artist

There is a trend in rap and R & B where performers want to be producers nd vce versa. Pharrell Williams is among that number. He has more than shown his skills as a producer, and as a "back-up artist" of sorts. But when he tries to make his... own albums, he just can't seem to hit the right note, so to speak. The same applies to "In My Mind". The album is ok. It shows that he knows his stuff with both rap and R & B. But as a whole performance, the album simply is not a standout work. It soudns similar to the stuff he's done with artiststhat he produced and guesed for. It's more fitting as perhaps background music for when friends want to get together. It's not much of a club album. Pharrell would likely do better staying on the production side. Even guest spots from the likes of friends Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg and Gwen Stefani among others is not much incentive to buy the album new. It would be better served to buy it used or burn a copy.
