crippled inside - an amazing song that is a
statement
Jealous Guy - one of his best and a good love song
u got to be somebody - NOT GOOD
i don't wanna be a soldier mam - NICE!!!!
gimme some truth - great and very offensive
love for the first time - an amazing love song
How - didn't like it
How do u sleep at night - couldn't except it at all
Oh Yoko - one of his best worship songs to his wife
i loved the first 2 but i honestly never heard the rest but i am 100% sure it is great.
what can i say LET THE MUSIC TALK
Johns best solo work as far as I'm concerned. The songs are just too damn good. From the title cuts timeless message to the McCartney aimed "How do you sleep" IMAGINE is just great song after great song and George Harrison is on about half the LP putting in some great guitar work especially the slide solo on "How do you sleep" which may be one of his best ever. "Oh my Love" is just beautiful and "Gimmie some truth" is like Revolutions little brother. "Oh Yoko" is a catchy little song and a great way to end the LP. On a sweet and peaceful note.
PS: If you have an old version of this LP, it has been Remixed and Remastered as well as Plastic ono band. They both sound incredible.
A lot of good stuff here. More commercial than Plastic Ono, but a still a far cry from the slick production and awesome arrangements of Abbey Road.
hey lennon doen{t seems to be an ex beatles his new music is not god. what happened to him? i think he was helped alot by mccartney to make great music.}the only good thing here is imagine and jelous guy...}i do also thionk that yoko have to give the sing to all mccartneys song to mccartney
Ever since I first heard Imagine, it has become one of my all time favorite songs by any former Beatle. Some other songs on this album are excellent too, like "Jealous Guy", "Oh My Love", and "Oh Yoko".
I'm sorry for omitting the five star rate. I'll make up for it right away!
I'm not ooief anymore. I'm at hotmail for good. I think this and Abbey Road are the best albums ever.
listen to what he says, and read between the lines to understand what he really means. He is unreal. and I miss him dearly. rock on nonnelnhoj...
Poetic, simple melodies with legendary insight.
This work makes the point that life is often too demanding, but managable when cherished for it's core simplicity.
Left off of this work was a song (never recorded, but performed in a private rendition, July 27th, 1989 --near swingset in Central Park -- Recorded by Reviewer--
IN MY DREAMS-
I'll return to you each sleep,
after every daily nightmare,
these moments in my dreamworld
are all that keep me going.
Sleeping with a memory,
waking in this hell,
holding you beside me,
the morning always kills.
I'll try all day to hold on,
I know this has to be,
our love is all but over,
until I go to sleep,
so I'll, just stay asleep.
What happened doesn't matter,
it probably was my fault,
but pieces of our good times,
are stuck here in my thoughts,
I hope you'll let me keep them
they mean so much to me,
we'll never be together,
unless I stay asleep,
So I'll, just stay asleep.
My daytime life is surreal,
this can't be what is true,
I've lost the only reason,
I've lost a life with you,
I think what sense is trying?
this won't be ever right,
my life is full of heartache,
but I'm home with you at night,
so I'll, just stay asleep...

Who are you? Imagine a bad song? Just because he had money, he was evil? Do you get the point that Imagine is about breaking through the barriers of money? His idealism may be a little far fetched, but think of the beautiful world that is portrayed by that song.
Imagine has to be the worst song ever writen. It's alright to be equal while J.L. has 90,000,000 dollars.Over produced and over praised,a so so album.
This is a wonderful example of a living legend. Every song on this album is a true example of how talented John Lennon was and why so many people today still miss and love him..
although it contains 2 well known masterpieces, "Jealous Guy" and "Imagine", the other songs are not nearly of the same quality, and the album does sound a little overproduced on some tracks.
The previous album "John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band" is much rawer, but ultimately more satisfying over the years. "Working-class hero" said it all for me.
This is John's best post-beatle album. Jealous Guy and Imagine are extremely beautiful peices of art. That this album is a masterpeice is undeniable.
This has to be his best album ever. God bless John.

Yoko Ono, in my opinion saved Lennon's life when he needed that "special" someone in his life to find meaning. Think about it: Lennon at the time was reckless with drugs-women-his band. It was obviously a cry for help. Then he met Yoko and whether she had something to do with breaking up the band is meaningless! She help save a man from himself. He gave her the love and support he never found. Not even with his bandmates-music. No! Don't blame Yoko for anything! If Morrison-Joplin-and Hendrix were to have founded their "Yoko", maybe too they would of had a purpose to live instead of dying of a drug related meaningless death. "A love that last forever"-Remember that people? We should all be as fortunate as John was. For this, I thank Yoko Ono...We all should.
"imagine all the people living life in
peace".....the lyric is so simple but honest and clear
john
lennon contributed his life in search of peace and love
and he finally did with his wife yoko ono, and his
true beliefs in a unified world
let's make it
happen
Imagine will be our guide!
peace:)
I think this album is the best best from the many he has completed, there is not 1 song on this ablum I dislike, I must bye for John lennon fans.
as with P.O.B, this album needs a little getting used to. but unlike P.O.B, you might actually find yourself smiling and singing along to some of the tunes. although a lot more light-hearted in terms of musical arrangements it still has that honesty that has now come to be identified with any lennon records. overall, it's a joy to listen to cause it conveys a very peaceful mood.

There is little dispute that Imagine was a
musically and culturally seminal album by one of the most
important masters of 20th Century music in his
prime.
It was produced and engineered by the greatest
legend of Rock N Roll production, Phil "Wall of Sound"
Spector. Spector, however, got it wrong with his approach
to this intimate and confessional album.
The
original mix always struck me as a bit muddy and when the
cd came out in the 80s, I was sad to hear little
improvement. This was because the mix was intentionally
multi-layered and acoustically diffuse, an artistic decision
(by Spector) that, to my mind, had the effect of
obscuring the performance, somewhat, especially around the
percussion and King Curtis sax work (in one of his final
performances before he was murdered outside his NYC home 10
years before Lennon).
The brave decision to
remix as well as remaster a classic album was clearly
justified by the crisp results that gives new life,
especially to some of the less well-remembered tracks such
as Oh My Love and I Don't Want to be a Soldier. The
clarity of John's vocal performance is also markedly
superior as is the entire sound field and stereo
effect.
The improvement is worth upgrading your collection or
making this the starting point for a journey through the
art of John Lennon.

well if john lennon was still alive i would have to smack him for marring yoko cause first she broke up the band and then made him betray his first son this song literaly sucks it is a good albumm it deserves 5 but this song is no good so it will get a 3 from me
Apart from it being a masterpiece, there is also the anger focused in "How Do You Sleep" on Paul. This underscores the hurt and pain in their *divorce*. I have always loved John, it's wonderful though to have a middle aged Paul willing to share his memories of John and the Beatles experience with us. Only POB can master this disc. This is music that will be played for all time.
