Pro Reviews: I Love a Piano

  • All Music Guide

Joe Bushkin's first album was also only the second (or third, depending upon how one counts) album ever released by Atlantic Records. The renowned pop/jazz pianist runs through 10 standards some of them then only brand new to the repertory, such as "So In Love" by Cole Porter, from the 1948 hit +Kiss Me, Kate and some of them wellestablished even at the time, including a success or two of his own in the composition department. In any case, he's in absolutely top form throughout, and it's easy to see for those too young to know why he was favored by Sinatra, among other top talent of the midtwentieth century.
