One great movie | One great soundtrack

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 27, 2005 | 1 out of 1 found this Hustle & Flow [Original Soundtrack] review helpful

Pros: Some great beats, great artists.

    Cons: Horrible lyrics by DJay.

I bought this soundtrack right after I saw the movie. I have to say, I'm impressed. The artists fit so well together. If my arm wasn't broken...
    Two thumbs up.

See The Movie, THEN get the Soundtrack....

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 26, 2005 | 1 out of 1 found this Hustle & Flow [Original Soundtrack] review helpful

Pros: The correlation between the film and the soundtrack, Trillville's "Man Up", DJay, Al Kapone

    Cons: Remixes, Bad Boy's contributions..

Out of anticipation of a great anticipation to see the movie, I bought the soundtrack to Hustle & Flow to hold me off until the movie made it's debut in theatres a week after the release of the soundtrack. After my initial listens, the only song ...that I really liked was Trillville's "Man Up". Besides the first single (Im A King), it was the best song on the soundtrack. After seeing the movie, the soundtrack made a lot more sense and I liked songs that before I had skipped. The movie gave a meaning and story behind the songs "It's Hard Out Here For A Pimp", "Hustle & Flow (It Aint Over)", and of course, "Whoop That Trick". The soundtrack is a nice compliment to the film, that is assuming that you actually enjoyed the actually movie. If you didn't like the movie, you probably won't like the soundtrack either, with exception of probably Trillville's "Man Up". Read more Less

    Film Releases A Hot SoundTrack

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 7, 2005 | 1 out of 2 found this Hustle & Flow [Original Soundtrack] review helpful

Pros: Every single song on the album except the minor cons, various artist used, the dirty south beats, and it's amazing that DJay from the film has some amazing songs for this album

Cons: BME Presents E-40, Bohagan, and Lil Scrappy - P**** N*****, Trillville - Man Up, and where is Ludacris!

Hustle & Flow has gained some amazing hype before it has even released. I had the oppurtunity to listen to this album off MTV The Leak and if the film is like the soundtrack it should be amazing. This album brings collaborations from plenty highly re...spected Dirty South artist. All of your favorite dirty south artist are on this album bringing the heat and definitley representing the South. Although I usually listen to Weat Coast and East Coast hip-hop this album definitley wants you to listen to more Southern artist. Let's get the cons out of the way. BME Presents E-40, Bohagan, and Lil Scrappy - P**** N***** is one of the weak tracks on the album. The first verse sounds really weak, but has some good lyrical content, I just didn't find the flow in it. This song is one of those your just going to want to skip. The other weak track on the album is Trillville - Man Up. I didn't like Trillville - Some Cut, and I just didn't like this one either because of their lyrical content. They always got hot beats and mess them up. The other minor con is where is Ludacris?! A highly respected southern artist who appears in the film isn't on the cd! Let's get to the good aspects of the album. Their are 14 tracks on this album, 12 worthy enough for me to be put on the album. You get your favorite artist, even DJay from the film. He suprisingly brings some of the best tracks in the album like "It Ain't Ovah", "Whoop That Trick", and "Out Here For A Pimp". He's good enough to have a solo-album. You have others like T.I., Boyz N Da Hood, Webbie, Trina, and Al Kapone who seems to be an underground rapper doing mixtapes because I'v never heard of him. Al Kapone gives a hot track called "Get Crunk, Get Buck". He's a legend to dirty south music and a legend in Memphis. He appeared in My Block: Memphis on MTV showing the Gangsta walk. Do you remember Making The Band 2? Where P. Diddy took Da Band and at the end put an end to the group. Well Young City a.k.a. Chopper makes a guest appearance and from my sources I heard he was signed to Bad Boy South. His lyrical ability and flow have really improved and he seems more mature. He has a track "Lil Daddy" which is one of the albums best songs, along with the DJay songs, Al Kapone, Boyz N Da Hood, and T.I., P$C, and Lil Scrappy. This is a strong album for a film. I usually don't listen to soundtracks from films but this can be compared to the 8 Mile Soundtrack just with a little Southern Flavor. A strong album which will be added to my collection when it releases. Go check it out, it's highly recommended. Also go check out the film Hustle & Flow when it comes out in theatres July 22nd, 2005. If your a Dirty South fan or a hip-hop fan in general you won't be disappointed. Read more Less

Like Watching The Movie Over & Over

By Yahoo! Shopping User  May 2, 2006

    Pros: Great Beats

    Cons: none

I love the cd. Not sure if I would if I hadn't watched the movie first. Hard Out Here For A Pimp is definitely my favorite and when I replay the movie in my head.
