Pros: Classical with an exciting edge

Cons: Not long enough!

This is one of my all-time favorite CDs! I got it when I was in middle school, and have loved it ever since! I have always found classical music interesting to play myself, but boring to listen to for leisure. This CD puts an exciting edge to the ...traditional classical by giving it a driving beat and mixing up the long songs and combining them into perfect-size medleys -- a perfect way to make classical fun. For years, I have used this CD to keep me awake and pumped up for late-night term papers, long road trips, and housework. This is the CD I choose when I don't have a particular musical genre that I want to listen to, but need to have something. It's the perfect "comfort" music! Read more Less

A fun way to listen to the classics!

I have loved classical music as a child, and probably way before that (my mother told me she played classical music in utero). Even as a child cartoons were interesting because of the classics played on many of them. My mother bought HOOKED ON CLAS...SICS for me as a young woman, when it was advertised on TV by K-tel. Now that I am older, I have the CD and I still love it. Mostly all of the world's favorites from Bach to Mendelssohn are strung together by an underlying beat that makes listening fun and almost dancable. It's a great way to introduce children to this timeless music, and for adults who thought classical music always took itself too seriously.
