Hitachi has been recognized as a world leader in the business front projector market, and now brings years of optical engineering and refinement to home theater. The advanced HDPJ52 is a perfect example of the total integration of Hitachi original technologies. The Hi-2 Dual Iris System is the combination of two independently controlled Iris components that adjust image brightness to show full shadow and highlight detail and enhance contrast for varied ambient light environments and source material. By optimizing the brightness of the projector to the ambient light conditions in the room, the viewer enjoys a more life-like picture with significantly improved shadow and highlight detail. Combined with the Super Focus Quattro ELD Lens System, the HDPJ52 brings out every detail and vivid color for a truer, life-like image.

The Lamp Iris is automatically controlled by proprietary Hitachi processing circuitry. Independent of any motorized Lens Iris settings, the Lamp Iris is a "butterfly" valve, which opens and closes by degrees, directly in front of the lamp. This automatic feature dynamically controls the amount of light sent through the light engine to the LCD panels. Digitally mapping incoming frames to determine the correct position of the Lamp Iris allows for an impressive 7000:1 contrast ratio.

    Pros: the best projector for the money

    Cons: some disturbing bootlegged units on the market

    This projector is hard to beat on two fundamental factors of picture performance: black levels and color accuracy. Its performance can only be matched by the ones that cost 2 or 3 times more. However, there are some counterfeits on the net dubbed as ...PJTX200, whcih has a silverish cheap looking case. But, there is no US warranty on this obviously. On Yahoo, there are only Cruchfield and pac-2000 who sell the real one. Read more Less

    Pros: Exceptional black levels for an LCD projectors; very accurate and vivid colors; inexpensive in its performace class.

    Cons: one HDMI input.

    This is arguably the best projector for the money based on its amazing price/performance ratio. In particular, with its Dual Iris technology, this LCD projector even matches very well with some high-end DLP projectors in black levels. On the other ha...nd, it effortlessly demonstrates the strength of 3-LCD technology in color management. Its color is noticeably more vivid than any DLP projector I have seen. This can be explained by the difference between LCD and single-chip DLP. To put icing on the cake, this projector only costs 1/3 of a high-end DLP projector. A steal, period. Read more Less
