Historic Travel US - Chugging Across the Wild West (2 DVD Set) (2005)

The building of the Southern Pacific Railroad had a large impact on places like Nevada, Washington, California, and Oregon. The railroad gave many people jobs, made travel between different states easier, and transported trade products like timber, farm items, and mineral ore. The vintage films in this collection explore how the railroad was built and what challenges constructors faced during its expansion. In "This is My Railroad" many of these obstacles are illustrated, such as when workers had to remove snow from the Sierra Nevada Mountains region in order to allow the train to pass through.
