His and Her Circumstances Vol. 3: Another Life, Less Ordinary (2002)

This series, from Gainax and director Hideaki Anno (EVANGELION), garnered a huge following in its native Japan no doubt due to the series' high quality writing and animation. A high school drama/comedy, HIS AND HER CIRCUMSTANCES is the story of Yukino Miyazawa, the smartest, prettiest, most athletic and popular person at school. However, this golden girl persona masks her private tendencies toward sloth and malice, a side that is provoked when the school gets a new transfer student named Souichiro Arima. Handsome, brilliant, and athletic, Souichiro is everything Yukino tries to be and more. Although at first Yukino targets Souichiro as an adversary, she soon finds that she is inexorably attracted to him, and he to her.
