His and Her Circumstances Vol. 2: Love and War Under the Cherry Blossoms (2002)

This series, from Gainax and director Hideaki Anno (EVANGELION), garnered a huge following in its native Japan no doubt due to the series' high quality writing and animation. A high school drama/comedy, HIS AND HER CIRCUMSTANCES is the story of Yukino Miyazawa, the smartest, prettiest, most athletic and popular person at school. In these episodes, Yukino and Arina find themselves basking in their recently acknowledged love for one another and spending as much time as possible together. Unfortunately, this takes away from their studies and both students' grades begin to slide, prompting their teachers to recommend they stop seeing each other. Contains episodes 7-11.
