Synopsis: Highlander II: the Quickening (1991)

In this labyrinthine sequel, the Immortal MacLeod (Christopher Lambert) saves the people of Earth from immanent ozone layer-related destruction by building a shield that deflects sunlight.     Pros: action packed and romantic

    Cons: wrongly capitolizes on first film

    This film could stand on its own if it were not connected to the first movie. The biggest mistake on the part of the producers and director was that they rushed to to capitolize on the first films success. For some reason I like this film on its own.... The problem lies in the fact that it ignores the plot line of the first film. One of the greatest crimes commited in this film is that the music score by Stewert Copeland is overshadowed by the fact that the film was not recieved by the fans very well. However, it is because of the score that I view this film independantly from the original. As far as continuity, it fails to keep it in anyway shape or form. But I must admit that the music along with Conner's dileama has captured me and I like this film on its own. I love the original movie and I feel the confusion that all Highlander fans feel, but I stand by my personal feelings about this one. See it for yourself and make your own mind. Read more Less
