ONE OF THE GREATS BANDS OF ALLTIME.
90-2000 MUSIC GUMBALL TRASH
I bought "ON THROUGH THE NIGHT" after the first time I heard "ROCK BRIGADE" and loved it. Then I bought this album as soon as it was released before I ever hear a single note of it and thought it was even better than the first album. From the opening riff of "LET IT GO" to Joe Elliot scream of "NO NO NO" at the end this album ROCKS. (If you had the LP and a turntable that didn't automaticly raise the needle that final NO would play on forever.)
I was actually disappointed with "PYROMANIA" at first and it was their first step on the road to sell out city in my opinion.
If you are a casual fan of Def Leppard that likes the pop sound of their later work this album is probably not for you. However if you are a serious fan and like a harder edge this is a must have album.
'Another Hit And Run' rocks! It's always been my favorite number from this band.
one of the better def leppard albums next pyromaina.
Who compiled this line up? Wheres "Rock Brigade" and "Hello America" from "On Through the Night"? Wheres "Let it Go" and "High'N'Dry(saturday night)" from "High'N'Dry" and Where in the hell is "Women" from "Hysteria"??? This cd needs to be redone in a bad way!!!!
A younger harder Leppard, but still a great
album.
Here are a few of the songs that made this a great
album:
Let it go
Bringing on the heartbreak
and
Mirror,Mirror.
If you have not got,get it because thise is a
classic.
This is their best. I give them a 4 simply
because the band fails to recognize that. I was
completely convinced when they went to MTV's Unplugged and
were asked by a fan in the audience why they rarely
played music from this album anymore. Elliotts
response?..."Our fans want to hear the more popular tunes, so we
give them that". How nice. With High and Dry they were
still raw and relatively unknown, creating music for
themselves and didnt give a
This is your album if you liked Def Leppard before they took a more pop twist in the later 80's. Concentrating on hard driving bar chords, "High and Dry" is a great specimen of early 80's hard rock, proving to be a stepping stone to later Heavy Metal bands of the decade.
This album just doesn't get the credit it deserves. Right from the start, with Let It Go, the Leps roar out of the blocks with an absolute stormer. They don't let up until the (timeless?) Bringin' On The Heartbreak, and even that has bollocks to it! The only song I'm not so sure about is On Through The Night, but even that has some cool riffs in. Mirror Mirror was almost constantly played on my stereo for ages, just because it is a great song, and No No No rounds off the album superbly. Super-cool rock.
this is what def should had stayed doing
and they would have been bigger than
Aerosmith
