I know that Black Sabbath isn't the same without Ozzy, but Dio did a good job of getting Sabbath right back on track with good songs like Neon Knights, Children of the Sea, Lady Evil, Lonely is the Word and the title track Heaven and Hell, their best song since Hole in the Sky on Sabotage (1975).

...start to finish. there are no emotions this album did not cover. Any classic rock/metal fan who listens to this album front to back MUST agree, it's one of the best of its time.

Dio doesn't fit that well with black sabbath though. heaven and hell, and the mob rules were all good but everything else sucks. i loved that solo song dio did with his other band though. Holy diver. it kicked ass. ozzy was better though

NEON KNIGHTS SHOWS HOW POLISHED SOMETING BLACK CAN BE, GREAT LYRICS BY R.J. AND IOMMI-BUTLER RE-CONSTRUCT THE WALL OF CHORDS. CHILDREN OF THE SEA STARTS OFF WITH TONY'S UNDERRATED ACOUSTIC INTRO THAT LEADS INTO A GREAT METAL SOUND (IOMMI-BUTLER PUSH THE VOLUME PAST 10), NOBODY CAN REPLACE THE OZZMEISTER BUT DIO'S VOCALS FIT PERFECTLY WITH THE NEW SAB SOUND. LADY EVIL IS IS AN HOMAGE TO WICKED WOMEN SUNG BY THE TERRIBLE TROLL. HEAVEN & HELL IS A MAGNUM OPUS THE STARTS OF WITH TONY I'S FLOORING RIFF (HOW DOES HE KEEP COMING UP WITH SUCH GREAT GUITAR HOOKS??) Great album! The Ozzy-fans dont like Dio, but I wonder their critics about Tony Martin. His voice has no difference than my voice. If I try, I can sing better than Martin.. LOL

Dio kicked Sabbath's ass into gear and together they created this timeless example of dark rock. Starting with the sparkling track, Neon Knights, Sabbath quickly establishes a mood of power and mystery that is sustained effortlessly throughout the album.

this album is extremly cheesy and funny. buy it for the fun side of it. evil women-most would have written about an x-girlfriend with a title like this. dio writes about a witch lady. LOOK OUT! dio saya look out in about 50% of his songs and this album is no exception. funny album, worth a listen if not taken seriouly

When that moron Dio shrieks "She's a magical mystical woman" you can have a pretty clear idea about the sort of intelligence and skill with which this album is infused- in other words, this album sucks in a most extreme way. I don't hate Black Sabbath, in fact no one loves their first 3 albums more than I, so you can take my word for it when I dismiss this as a huge steaming pile of rat-dung.

That Sabbath ever did. Some might have been more memorable, but Dio's voice with this line-up was just a pure joy (OR A NIGHTMARE) Wonderful musicianship alongst with powerhouse vocals. Should not be forgotten for long...........

Art metal, and nothing more. Great!! GREAT! I listened to it for days, for weeks. I learned all the lyrics, I knew every note in this album(almost every).
Dio is the best hard rock singer(except maybe for Paul Stanley and Klaus Meine), but here he shows his best! "Children Of The Sea" is one of his best songs along with "Holy Diver" or "Last In Line". "Neon Knights" is a great speed metal track. Anyway, BS isn't like other hard rock bands, who write stupid lyrics and even more stupid music (I live in Russia, so I know it well). BS maybe is the MOST influential band in the history of hard rock. And Heaven & Hell Is A Really Good Sample Of How To Make The Really Good Album.Was this review helpful? Im sorry to say this Ozzy,but i have to agree with dungeon,Ronnie's vocals were very powerful poetic and very beautiful a true masterpiece of the 80s with super synth sound making it one of the best albums of 1980 # 4 of the best CDS of the 80s # 57.indispensible!!!!!!!
