    What a pre-teen thinks

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 30, 2004 | 23 out of 34 found this Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) review helpful

Pros: Had an excellent set of new characters.

Cons: Not Excactly what I pictured them to be or act.

I Agree that this movie was better than the first two movies and the fact that it didn't have a lot of important parts. But I also looked at the actors, the new ones. The first one I looked at was Dumbledoore. He seems mad, just like Harry Potter..., in the book, guessed at the first ever feast he had during his first year. He's also funny in weird ways, which makes him funnier. Then I looked at Lupin, a very important charcater to me. He looks diffrent from what I hoped yet was PERFECT!!! He showed his emotions well, just read the book and then you'll understand. Then Came Sirius. Not the person I thought would be him but he's good! The thing is I thought he'd be a bit younger. But I'd have to say this has been the best of the movies so far. Read more Less

    Is Azkaban worth watching?

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 3, 2004 | 11 out of 12 found this Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) review helpful

Pros: Directorial style and the evolution of the characters

    Cons: Complex plot

I have to admit that I have lost track of what has happened in the land of Harry Potter. But when AZKABAN came out, I was intrigued. As I was with the first two, I loved this movie!! I could immediately tell that there was a new director because o...f how the movie was with the style of the characters in the movie. There seemed to be a lot more joking parts to this movie than in the first two movies. This isn't to say that Columbus, who directed the first two, didn't capture the world of Harry Potter to the degree of this new director. He in fact allowed us to see Harry's world for the first time on the big screen and gave us a worthy sequel. With this new director, he captures the world of Harry just as flawlessly as Columbus did but he had a few drawbacks while making the third film. First, he had to find a replacement for the late Richard Harris who played a wonderful Dumbledore. Second, how to creep us out with those Dementors. HE DID create that creep factor. Third, the material had to be fresh enough to keep children watching and adults watching as well. This new director defeated all of these three feats by making a film that is fun and creepy. This is a wonderful film. The characters are more vibrant than ever. The story even keeps an adult watching to see what happens next. Just because someone is too old to read the book does not mean that someone is too old to see this movie. See it!!! FIVE STARS across the board!!! Read more Less

    Best Ever!!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 8, 2004 | 7 out of 7 found this Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) review helpful

    Pros: More realistic!!

Cons: A little more violently graphic than I had hoped for.

Not only was this my fav. book but also my fav. movie of the three. The kids are in normal clothes 65% of the time instead of their robes. Just an overall great flick!!

    What Potter Fans Think

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 26, 2004 | 13 out of 20 found this Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) review helpful

Pros: Better than the First two

Cons: Left out more (from the book) than the first two

I saw it on the openeing day, June 4th 2004. I loved it. I saw it five more times through out June and July. The things I liked about this one, was it was dark. The first two were like...Seasame St. (no pun intended). This one was actually worth seei...ng six times. I loved that they wore "regular" clothes, instead of wearing they're robes 24/7. I pictured Lupin and Sirius differently, but they were good. I think there wasn't enough of the fact that Hermione did not like Divination. In the book, Trewlaney predicts Hermione's absentce from the class. The Dementor's were more of a "main" thing in the book. In the movie, you sort of forget about the Dementors. I thnk the first hour was rushed. Like, first he's at the Dursley's, then you blink, and he's at Hogwarts, you blink again, and they go to Hogsmeade. It doesn't happen that way in the book. I loved the new soundtrack, I was REALLY getting annoyed by "Hedwig's Theme". I loved "Double Trouble"! I wished they had made the Demntors actually have a hood. In the book, they lower they're hoods and suck you're soul. In the movie, they have holes in the "cloth over their heads". I wish they hadn't deleted a whole bunch of scenes, they deleted like 4 that I know of. They made countless mistakes, which people DID notice. The Whomping Willow was in a courtyard in the second movie, not miles away from the castle. They have to go accross a bridge (which just happened to appear i nthe third movie), go down a hill, and soem stone steps, JUST to get to Hagrid's hut. Hagrid, supposivly, had his house "remodeled", and extened, but still doesn't have a bed in sight. And in Hagrid's lesson, why did they go into the forest? It's forbidden....duh!!! They didn't even have Sir Cadogan in the film. Pitty. But, I still LOVED it. I CANNOT wait til it comes out on DVD!!!Azkaban Fan,Tony Read more Less

Harry potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 9, 2004 | 5 out of 6 found this Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) review helpful

    Pros: Its harry potter

Cons: Left out way to much

It was great to be watching another instalment of harry potter but sucked that the new director cut out so much stuff. I agree with other reviews that all this stuff just seemed to appear like the steps and the womping willow bieng a mile away. I t...hought lupin and sirus would be a little different in looks from what i read in the book just didn't meet my expectaions of what the third movie would be like. The third book is one of my favorite of the five so far, the extended stay at diagon alley in the begining and the fight about the firebolt was more extensive in the book plus the demontors were mentioned all the time in the book but the movie played very little on them. Over all thumbs down but i will still buy it so i have all three.... Read more Less

    Pros: Amazing.

    Cons: There are no Cons.

Enjoyed this movie very much. We must remember that when we compare movies to books we are rarely pleased with the outcome. This movie was a stand alone hit.

    Pros: Nice New Characters

    Cons: Didn't like the Dementors

As for seening it 4 times I agree it was the best Harry Potter movie yet. Well you see first I took a look at the Demetors. They are so scary. My frend's sister had to close her eyes because she was so scared. Then I took a look at the new character...s.The new Dumbledoore was not like the old Dumbledoore. He had a mad look on his face. Then i looked at Lupin. He was PERFECT! Read more Less

You can only ask one question.....why?

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 8, 2004 | 3 out of 6 found this Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) review helpful

Pros: Nothing really. It just had more humor. Not a big deal really

Cons: Everything! It DID NOT follow the book at all!!!!

From the moment I sat down at the movie theater and started to watch this horrific movie, I thought I was going to cry! They shouldn't have never switched directors because he doesn't know what the heck he is doing!! He didn't follow the ...book at all!! Everything was jumbled up and he left a lot of the good and important parts out of the movie. Then I read Entertainment Weekly and from what I get, he just wanted to make a funny. Well, that's all good but at least follow the story line! HELLO!!!! Anybody home? Harry Potter is not a comedy, it is historic like and adventerous. Harry Potter should not be wearing jeans and a t-shirt. He should be in his little uniform and do some spells like he's supposed to, not trying to be funny all the time and being stupid. Yeah he can joke around and stuff, and he does in the book, but you could tell that this director only wanted a funny, and that's not what Harry Potter is about. And then I heard all these nice things people were saying about this movie and I wanted to kill someone. How can you even form your mouth to say good things about this movie? It was just a splitting headache the whole time. I'm sorry, but this was the worst Harry Potter movie I have ever seen so far. But the good news is that the direcotr that made this movie won't be doing the next one. That's all I have to say. Read more Less

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 10, 2004 | 2 out of 4 found this Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) review helpful

Pros: The best feature of this film is Buckbeak the Hippogriff

Cons: Should have been billed as very loosely based on the book.

This film lacks the backbone of the two previous films. Gone is the visual delight of Hogwarts, and the characters seem to have shallowed under the direction of Cuaron. The story is fascinating however, and those who have NOT read the book should enj...oy it thoroughly. Read more Less

Pros: I enjoy the books more...lol

Cons: not 1 of my top fav's.

Well this movie was very interesting. I love Hp and everything but this particuular movie was a little off. Many ppl would probably say this was a great movie because the actors had normal clothes on much of the time, but in my opinion since this mov...ie is about witches and wizards and things I thought the actors should have been wearing robes and things like that. Other than that I thought the movie was great. Read more Less
