This is one of the most exciting books of the Harry Potter series. This book deals with the life history of Voldemort, the dark wizard of the story. It also reveals the secret of Voldemort's life, his horcruxes. This is also a sad one becuse the greatest wizard,Dumbledore dies in the hands of Snape, the teacher at Hogwarts whom dumbledore trusted the most. This book has the interesting friendly quarrels of Ron and Hermione, which is fun to read. This booking has such an ending which will make u interested to read the last book, which is Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, the book in which answers all questions in the whole story. Finally,i would say that this book is an ideal book for reading in ur free time, anyone, young or old,can read the book and get emerged in a world of fantasy which is very hard to forget, because Jk rowling wrote the story in such an interesting way that u will go on reading it uptil the end of it and u wont even be tired reading it.U dont beleive me??? Harry Potter is a series of fantasy novels by English author J. K. Rowling about a teenage boy named Harry Potter. The story is mostly set at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, a school for young wizards, and focuses on Harry Potter's fight against the evil wizard Lord Voldemort, who killed Harry's parents as part of his plan to take over the wizarding world.
Since the release of the first novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (retitled Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the United States) in 1997, the books have gained immense popularity, critical acclaim and commercial success worldwide, spawning films, video games and assorted merchandise. The six books published to date have collectively sold more than 325 million copies[1] and have been translated into more than 63 languages.[2] The seventh and last book in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is scheduled to be released on 21 July 2007.[3] Publishers announced a record-breaking 12 million copies for the first print run in the US alone.[4]
Due to the success of the novels, Rowling has become the richest writer in literary history.[5] English language versions of the books are published by Bloomsbury in the United Kingdom, Scholastic Press in the United States, Allen & Unwin in Australia and Raincoast Books in Canada.
The first four books have been made into highly successful motion pictures by Warner Bros.. The fifth, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, began filming in February 2006, and is scheduled for release on 13 July 2007

Rowling has succeeded yet again! The sixth installment in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Half- Blood Prince, proves to be the most captivating of all of the novels thus far. Like most of the Harry Potter books, it focuses on the constant battle between good and evil, but it presents it in a much darker and more severe manner. There are many deaths, injuries, and suspenseful goings-on. At the same time, however, we, as readers, are charmed by the magical wizarding world that Harry lives in and the interactions of our favorite characters. Rowlings compelling story leaves readers yearning for book seven. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is a triumph due to the brilliant balance between narrative, mystery, and genuineness that Rowling creates.
One of the most interesting concepts Rowling crafts is Dumbledores Pensieve. Many chapters in The Half-Blood Prince are dedicated to exploring different episodes from Voldemorts past through the memory-holding device. These memories allowed me to find out more about Voldemorts family, his life growing up, and his relationship with Dumbledore and Hogwarts. In the Pensieve chapters, Voldemorts grandfather, mother, and father are introduced. The truths behind his parents marriage and his birth are also revealed. Though I do not know what part these memories will play in the future, the recollections permitted me to see Voldemort in more depth, something that I have been eagerly awaiting since The Sorcerers Stone. Learning more about Voldemorts childhood and upbringing, I was able to sympathize for him. His childhood consisted of being abandoned by his parents and brought up in an orphanage. Knowing his parents did not love him probably contributed to his cruel and guarded demeanor, and possibly his transformation into the evil Voldemort. Lastly and most importantly, the Pensieve explained Horcruxes. In one memory Slughorn describes Horcruxes to Voldemort (known as Tom Riddle at the time) saying, well, you split your soul, you see and hide part of it in an object outside the body. Then, even if ones body is attacked or destroyed, one cannot die, for part of the soul remains earthbound and undamaged (497). Horcruxes such as the Gaunt family ring, Slytherins locket, and Hufflepuffs cup are explained. Insights about these Horcruxes are important because they will ultimately lead to Voldemorts ruin. The Pensieve chapters are great narratives that allowed me to begin to piece together why and how Voldemort has become such a dark and evil force and how he can be defeated.
Both Severus Snape and Draco Malfoy play major roles that add an air of mystery to the sixth book. Dracos sole purpose in previous novels was to serve as a bullying figure to Harry and his friends. Rowling, however, adds complexity to his character in The Half Blood Prince as we see him not only as an overconfident and malicious Slytherin, but also as a sensitive and frightened boy. Throughout the novel, Harry constantly suspects that the Dark Lord gave Draco a secret task to carry out. At one point Draco sneers at Snape when confronted about his duty saying, I dont need your protection! Its my job, he gave it to me and Im doing it, Ive got a plan and its going to work
(323). Later he cries to Moaning Myrtle in the bathroom, No one can help me, I cant do it
I cant
It wont work
and unless I do it soon
he says hell kill me
(522). Therefore, I question Dracos true intent. I wonder whether he is following in his fathers footsteps as a Death Eater or acting out of fear of Voldemort. Also, I constantly struggle over whether Snapes loyalty lies with Voldemort or Dumbledore. The greatest shock comes when Snape kills Dumbledore with the Avada Kedavra curse at the end of the novel. Though I was stunned and saddened by this turn of events, I was also perplexed. Was Dumbledore pleading with Snape to kill him? Did Snape do it to protect Malfoy? Is he serving the Dark Lord? Rowling has m
Pros: ending
Cons: a bit long
About the only thing that I did not like about "HP & the Half Blood Prince" was the fact that it was quite long. Otherwise, the plot moved along well, and we never got to know who the half blood prince was until the end. Among the surprises (maybe not such a surprise after all) was learning what type of person Severus Snape really was.
It was good to see Harry moving along with his life after the death of his godfather, Sirius Black.
Pros: Takes your imagination to new heights
Cons: None
This is simply amazing. First of all, CONGRATULATIONS to JK Rowling for this wonderful piece of work. The story takes the reader's imagination to new heights. There are too many mysteries, secrets (and clues too).
There are many twists in the story. The more I read the book the more I was hooked up by the way the story advances. The end is quite sad though. The death of Dumbledore is a great setback for our hero Harry Potter. Now what happens next is yet to be seen in the last book of this series.
I am eagerly waiting for the final hit by JK Rowling.
