Half-Life 2 continues the story of Gordon Freeman, the scientist-turned-marine who managed to escape from the Black Mesa Research Facility in Half-Life. In Half-Life 2, Gordon has accepted the G-Man's "offer" and become a government agent on Earth. However, the Xen aliens, Combine soldiers, headcrabs, "ant lions", and other enemies threaten everything. Gordon begins his quest in City 17 and, with the help of Eli and Alyx Vance, begins to unravel the mysteries behind the rapid changes on Earth. Freeman also encounters gigantic spider-like monstrosities that tower over buildings, impale humans on sharp spindly legs, and emit devastating blasts from their bodies -- "stiders."

All the voice actors from Half-Life have returned to voice their characters in Half-Life 2. The physics engine has been updated to include all objects within the game world; players will be able to shoot chairs to pieces, manipulate futuristic "gravity" guns, and interact with objects in complicated ways. Several vehicles will be available during certain levels, and environments include City 17, some suburbs, a dry ocean bed, an icebreaking ship, and a jail. An included game editor allows the creation of mods, maps, and level editing.

    Revolutionary Game

Pros: Playability, Game length, replayability, visuals, AI

Cons: Encourages procrastination among teenagers and college students.

This game has been expected for years now, not to mention that it was made over a course of five years. This game has a STUNNING REALISM to it due to its game engine. The lip-syncing of the characters in the game are near, if not completely, on time.... A variety of new weapons and vehicles are introduced. The original makers of Half-Life takes this game one... no, SEVERAL steps ahead of other games. REmemer how Far Cry was the most graphic-intensive and wonderful game when it was released; same with Doom 3? Well, I feel that this game eclipses the other two. AT least be on par with them. This game is a must have for those that likes to play PC games (except for parents that wants to make sure their children do their homework, that is.). Also, the visuals and realism is remarkable. I can't say enough how realistic the game is; you can drag a mattress and it will mve like a real mattress. Also, the AI of the game is great. There are only a few parts where the AI could be better, but overall, it's the best AI I've ever seen so far. Finally, the sheer size of the gaming area is breathtaking. City 17, where the game takes place, has a variety of landscapes, but each landscape is unique and not just generic. I mean, if you see a hill with a road in the distance, odds are you will be able to drive on that hill. See several destroyed buildings that way? You can explore them. Unlike other games, where they either seal off the game map with a ageneric background, or walls in a building so you can't go pass the gaming area; Half-life 2 gives you the freedom to explore the entire City, as well as its surroundings. I give this game 5 out of 5. Read more Less
