Hal Kemp was among the most popular and commercially-successful bandleaders of the '30s, scoring a huge number of dance hits. Kemp played in a band at the University of North Carolina from 1924-1926, with his Carolina Club Orchestra recording for Okeh. He worked with Bunny Berigan in 1930 when the young trumpeter went on a European summer tour with Kemp's group.
