Synopsis: Habit (1997)

It's autumn in New York. Sam has broken up with his girlfriend, and his father has recently died. World-weary and sloppy drunk, he finds temporary solace in the arms of Anna, a mysterious woman who draws him away from his friends and into a web of addiction and madness.

    Habit is surrealistic and good

    Pros: excellent style, good main character

    Cons: production/lighting needed to be better at times

    Habit is a portrayal of an alcoholic attempting to cope with his out of control life. The main character, Sam, struggles with raging alcoholism and the inner demons it releases. Piled on top of this, he starts dating Anna, a woman who has a taste f...or his blood. Are her actions phsychotic delusions brought on by alcoholic binges, or is she a vampire making him her next victim? Reality and the surreal are jumbled up until the end, when Sam is confronted by Anna in his apartment and he sees her true self. This movie is somewhat hampered due to the low budget, but it still shines as an excellent story of delusion and self-destruction. Read more Less
