Comparing the Compaq 3765 vs. the top line Palm is like comparing a P IV/2.0 Gig against

I purchased my Compaq IPAQ Pocket PC 3765 just last February 2002 from SEARS and it was great. I have downloaded movies (MPEGS, AVI) and uploaded them to my pocket pc for my personal viewing. I have GPS software and Pocket Streets that help me navigate through my designations within California. Helps me a lot, especially when I need a map. I've got WorldMate that tells me the weather, currency rates, IDD phone codes and a lot of stuffs a traveller needs. On top of that, when I connect to the Internet via modem on my cellular phone, I can load ICQ, Yahoo Messenger, and MSN Messenger and be able to chat with my friends worldwide, all in the palm of my hand. I recommend this product for those who travel and find a notebook such a nuissance. Happy surfing ....

Games, microsoft reader, emailing my friends while on the go - I've never had better entertainment organization. Also, it works great for work - I make extensive use of the tasks, contacts, calendar, and excell (but this excell cannot make graphs).
The only thing is I wish I could figure out how to have my weather and news transferred to it from my home PC internet, while it is in it's cradle. I also want it to update these automatically.Was this review helpful? Yes - NoIPaq 3765
I like it! It' the brain I never had. :) It's got 64 M RAM and not all that expensive, if you look around. It looks pretty sharp too (perhaps not as sharp as the 3800 series, but for $200, I'll suffer). Apps aren't as plentiful as for the Palm and it doesn't come with the protective sleeve (that miffed me a bit), but overall I like it quite a lot.
A couple of things though. The Dashboard app that comes with it is nice when it doesn't lock up your machine. I downloaded the 1.2 update and instead of taking a couple of days to lock my machine, it took a couple of minutes. That was disappointing. That and having to get a MS Passport in order to activate the reader software. I haven't checked out all the software that came with it yet, but it's been a handy "reminder-giver" for me. The only thing I can find disappointing is, as stated in the reviews, the battery life could be better. Other then that all the features however overshadow that one minor drawback. Color is great, 2002 rocks (even though I am not big Microsoft fan). Can't wait to get a portable keyboard for this and I will only need a pc for development applications, cause this does the rest. Has email, voice, word, excel, games, internet, doesn't take long to sync with outlook at all (this was on a PII running XP). Look around and you can find it for approx. $400+, although I won mine in a raffle...
