Pros: Price afforadable
Cons: Lack of response from tech support to help customers
I have had printer for less that 2 years and am not satisfied. I replaced color cartridges as required and it now will not print. Keeps saying to replace yellow. Well, at first I thought I had a defective ink cartridge for yellow. So, I fork out additional bucks to purchase new pack and the printer still does not recognize yellow. I checked on line and there were numerous complaints, with no solutions, regarding the yellow ink cartridges. HELP. I know that in the time frame I have had my printer I have made less than 1,000 copies and it is a shame that now I must purchase another printer. Hopefully, others of you are having better results.
Pros: Frustration
Cons: Physical abuse of a printer
This is the most irritating product I have ever owned!!!
It goes through ink jet cartridges like water.
I have a small home network with several Vista computers and the drivers uninstall themselves at random. Even after I downloaded the update posted on the support site to address the random un-installation or the driver issue???!!!
I have two teenagers and it is a constant Dad the printer is not working.
Did I mention, this the most exasperating piece of crap I have ever owned I am shipping it back to them and never purchasing another HP product.
Pros: easy to use
Cons: if you ran across a problem, the support was horrible.
The machine is awesome, until you have a problem with it. Mine worked great, never skipped a beat for one year. Then the day after the warranty expired my machine started having problems. I called customer support and they had no idea what they were doing. This issue went on for sometime because I wanted the machine fixed. I had only had it for a year. To make a long story short. This issue has completely turned me off of the HP products due to their customer service. I spoke to numerous people regarding my problem, not one could help me. Anyway, I still have the machine and use it from time to time. Since then I replaced it with the Brother machine. That things is 20 times better and faster. Buyer beware of the customer service......it sucks.
Pros: Nothing that is not available from a less expensive product
Cons: It seems to be in "preparing mode" anytime ya need a quick copy. (And you can only wait until it has fininished doing its thing.)
The print quality is fine, but it is not any better than what less expensive all-in-ones produce. It is rustrating to no end when trying to print labels or on stock paper as it rejects the effort stating the paper is a mismatch.
I often want to print a 'picture' on paper (for crafts) and do so with "picture quality" however, if you want pcture quality you must use photo paper.
Since the day I took it out of the box there have been four small green splotches. on ecerything copied with the machine :(.
Not worth the cost.
Pros: Nice pictures and print quality
Cons: most of the time I get error so it wastes tons of paper
When the printer works, I enjoy what I see. But, it seems to me that every two weeks I have to reinstall to get a page to print out. It is a pain. I have wasted more paper from this machine!!! I'm not happy about my purchase nor the amount of paper I have spent. I have also contacted support for help. They were helpful BUT claim that you do have to reinstall sometimes if it isn't working. How come can you not just buy something that actually works for a long time. I shouldn't have to take MY time to reinstall the software. Make something that works the first time!!!
Pros: Amazing photos, ease-of-use, 6 ink design
Cons: None
Having this printer for well over a year now, this has been our most reliable printer. It is my brother's printer, and I use it to print photos and use it as a stand-alone copier. I love the 6 ink system, saving me money on ink compared to Lexmark or Canon. It is also an awesome copier, with controls to set the quality of the copy. This is an amazing printer and is really the best value for your money!
Pros: copies/prints photos without computer
Cons: Installation difficult and tech support needs to learn English.
I purchased 2 of these printers, one for my wife and one for my daughter. It took me about 3 hours to get the one for my wife working and half of that time was with tech support in Pakistan. This guy spoke clearly and knew his product. He had to take control of my computer remotely in order to fix the problems, that included deleting and changing thing in the registry. In the end, he was able to make the necessary changes needed to sucessfully install the drivers.
The second printer, for my daughter, was a totally different story. This guy spoke much too rapidly, and his English needed a LOT of work. I could detect a bit of attitude in his voice because I had to ask him to repeat what he said almost every other sentence. His knowledge of troubleshooting was basic at best. After an hour of conversation and trying this and that, he tried to tell me something was wrong with my USB ports. I then told him about the other tech guy who actually knew what he was doing and what he did to fix the first printer. He said he'd have his supervisor call me back in an hour or so and "maybe" he could help me. No thanks, I took both printers back for a refund. While I was getting my refund, another person came in with the same problem. The printer, if working, may be great. However, it's not worth the time, trouble, expense. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this one.
Pros: GOOD LOOKING PRINTER GOOD QUALITY
Cons: PAPER TRAY A LITTLE DIFFICULT AT FIRST
I PICKED THIS PRINTER BECAUSE IT HAS ALL THE FEATURES THAT I WAS LOOKING FOR IN A PC PRINTER. I LIKE THE FACT THAT YOU CAN MAKE A COPY OF SOMETHING WITHOUT YOUR PRINTER BEING ON. I ALSO LIKE THAT IT HAS INDIVUAL COLOR INK CARTRIDGES.
I FELT THAT THE PRICE WAS A LTTLE HIGH BUT I WAS WILLING TO PAY IT BECAUSE OF THE QUALITY. THE SALESMAN AT BEST BUY COULD HAVE BEEN A LITTLE MORE INFORMATIVE ON THE PRODUCT HE WAS LITTLE TO NO HELP.
Pros: on-printer menus and options and built in networking
Cons: scanning software
After reviewing many all-in-one printers through Yahoo Tech, I decided to purchase the c5180. HP does have 4 or 5 software programs that install (optional), but they are decent programs for picture libraries, editing photos, scanning software, and printing wizards (ex. calendars, flyers, cd labels, etc). The scanning software is the only program that I recommend (Resource hog) not installing and instead use Microsoft's scanning wizard. Other than that, I decided to go with the c5180 over the c4180 because of the multi-color inkjet cartridges instead of a tri-color cartridge. The multi cartridges make the less used colors last longer instead of changing out the tri color due to one color run out. The color copy buttons does wonderful for scanning a photo and printing. Make sure you adjust the scanner settings to scan in Maximum resolution, then press -color copy- button and PRESTO! you are done making a copy of a photo. I am extremely happy with my purchase and hope this unit holds up for a long time!!!!!
Pros: exellent photo printing for the money
Cons: way too much softwear
This is my third HP in 8 years. It's also the nicest of the lot. The setup was easy and so far the quality of the photo prints is outstanding. I used the regular inexpensive paper for some of the documents I printed first and the graphics and pictures were not very good. However, if your goal is top notch photo printing or graphics, this is the way to go, using photo quality paper of course.
The price was a factor in that I didn't think I could get the quality for what I spent ($179.95.) Spending more was not an issue, but why would you when you can get what you need out of the C5180.
Speed is good and my machine is not that loud. Overall, I don't think i've seen another three-in-one that can beat it for the money.
I can't really comment on support or how this printer will hold up, but so far i've been very impressed with its performance.
Pros: Easy to set-up .and operate, prints well.
Cons: NO pict bridge, slow printing.
overall I like the unit. but it prints slow and why in the world HP thinks we want to fill our hard drives with all that software is beyond me. some would say it is noisey when it prints but I find it much better than a epson.basicly if you want a simple priner this one if great.
