    hp photosmart m407 camera

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 2, 2009

    Pros: cheap and easy

Cons: flash doesnt charge and sucks up batteries

When I first got this I loved it. BUT, the flash does not work after a year and it only says charging. and it sucks up batteries, you have to buy rechargables and then carry a spare pair with you because it eats them up so fast. RUN AWAY from this camera!! not worth it- I now have a panasonic lumix and like it so much more.

    i dont recomend.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 26, 2008

    Pros: Very easy to use

Cons: Battery always dies, breaks really easy, no shaking stabilazer

Well i got this camera for my birthday 2years ago, for the first year it was a good camera, apart from the fact when taking pictures without the flash, the pictur was always blured for some reason..

After a year, using it rarely and taking very good care off, always in case and such, the screen started to fade, at a point i had 3vertical lines and the screen was almost pure white... so i used the little old eye thing, no more using screen..

after about 3monts after the screen crap, the zoom dint want to retract, and it kept shuting off and on randomly, taking awful pictures. well i bought a new camera a couple monts ago, NOT HP :D

    Unsatisfied

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 7, 2006

    Pros: It's a good/well known brand

    Cons: not worth it

I bought an HP 417 w/4.1mp, I was hoping to enjoy it, but all I've had is trouble. I've had it exchanged thinking it was a defeted camera, but I'm still having the same problem with the new one. Never again will I buy an HP product, nor will I recommend it to my family and friends.

    Avoid HP products

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 13, 2006

Pros: Was a good buy 12 mo ago

    Cons: No good any more

This camera did not function well right from the beginning. Now it's completely broken, and customer service at HP sucks. I spoke to a rep from HP and he suggested to just buy another new camera and he wanted my address so that he can send me info on new HP products. Can you imagine their high hopes. When you buy a camera for 200+ bucks you wish it work for some time. It is just a piece of junk. Avoid buying all HP products.

    Broke day after warranty expired

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 14, 2006

    Pros: None

    Cons: Useless

This camera broke a day after having it for a year, the lense won't retract and powers on then off right away. Always had power issues with it when it did work even after updating firmware several times. After investing money in the accesories, dock, memory card, carry case, etc, I'm very disgusted with this product. There was quite a delay in taking back to back photos as well. If you want value for your money, don't buy this camera.

Great little camera for the money

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 6, 2005

Pros: Easy to use, good in light, high quality photographs

Cons: Battery too quick to discharge, self timer too quick

I expect a lot from this camera... and I'm actually getting it ! The camera is well worth the $200 I paid for it and then some. Aside from the cons... it does need additional memory "out of the box"... but so do most cameras... I reccommend the 256 mb card... you can hold 300 + HQ photo 4 mp photos or at least 800 2 mp lower quality photos... you can adjust the mps 4, 3,2 or lower (which aren't bad at all)... zoom capabilities are great (3X optical and 6X digital)... install the strap because it's easy to drop this bad boy and if you do that... well you may damage it... it's built for some bumps, but a 2 or 3 foot fall is probably not going to be pretty! Overall it is a great camera... don't hesitate to get the docking station... that makes connections so simple as the push of 1 button !

    First digital

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 23, 2005

Pros: easy to use needs no developing

Cons: does not give the quality of a similar priced point and shoot

This is my first digital camera. I have used cameras from the Kodak "Pony", Browny, and many other film cameras. Some needed to be taped to hold out the light.

New, perfected point and shoot film cameras can handle light much better than the digital. With this camera I find that I need to be in excellent conditions to get a "good" picture and cannot create my own situation.

However, the camera solves a lot of problems such as not having several pictures that I do not want and it is very easy to "enhance" the photos to an acceptable standard.

Overall quality of the digital is "OK" for general snap shot type of photography. In fact, considering that most photos are looked at and forgotten, the digital "does the job" better!!! If you want to blow one up and put it into a frame, it can be done. Again, make sure you are in very good light if you are to expect a decent picture.

    Good choice

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 6, 2005 | 0 out of 3 found this HP PhotoSmart M407 review helpful

Pros: Price, easy using, good contact with customer

Cons: Not reliable for long last using

It has a good price to meet the digital camera requiremnts.
It has a nice view,, and easy using capabilities. 4.1 MP is enough for amators, I think. But I have doubts for its strongness.

    Good small camera

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 24, 2004 | 27 out of 29 found this HP PhotoSmart M407 review helpful

Pros: Value, picture quality, simplicity, compact size

    Cons: Flash range, included memory

You'll need to buy additonal memory right away. I recommend 256 Meg or greater. Flash range is limited. But, you'll need to buy additonal memory with almost all cameras and I don't expect a huge flash range from a compact camera. I am quite pleased with picture quality, especially image sharpness and clarity. As with all digitals, you can do a lot to fix the image once it's on your PC. I consider picture quality on a par with much more expensive cameras, including my Olympus, which costs over twice as much. The M407 is also very easy to use and has simple menus and great point-and-shoot capability. The camera is so small you can drop it in a coat pocket.
