    Excellent Camera For Its Price

    Pros: Fully featured, Long battery life

    Cons: Night shots are tricky

    This camera is a definite improvement over the HP850 by adding many manual controls such as focus,color saturation etc to help frame and take a perfect picture. The increase in resolution to 5 mp is welcome and the pics are sharp and bright. It can u...se both regular batteries AND rechargables that charge in the camera. Battery life on rechargeables is excellent. I have used this camera with a set of Olympus wide angle and telephotot lenses to take great pictures. Night shots require careful manual settings to improve their quality but they are doable.A neat feature HP included is 'digital flash' which greatly improves dark areas in a scene when you capture it. Camera build is good, the software is good as well for imaging collections although you may want to invest in a more full featured package such as Picture Window Pro to do real interesting things.     Pros: Easy to use

    Cons: Misfunctions, batter life is terrible, clarity of pictures

    I received this camera for Christmas in 2003. The camera is very easy to use and has good instructions built into the software. The camera’s auto focus does not work a lot of times leaving you with less than clear pictures. My son’s Canon does a... much better job on picture quality. It would be nice if the camera offered more resolutions settings. It only offers 1 MP and 5 MP settings. The battery life is terrible.The camera regularly malfunctions. At times it will shutdown in the middle of taking a picture. Sometimes it would freeze and not do anything and you have to turn off the camera. Since I have owned it has twice frozen in the on position with the infrared focus light on and you can do nothing except return the camera to HP. If you take the batteries out and put them back in it stay frozen in the same position. Five months after owning the camera it was replace by HP. The new camera operated seven months and the same thing happen. HP will replace it, but it will cost $169.00 since it is beyond the one year warranty period. Even though explained to them that I had received the camera on Christmas 2003 and it failed on Christmas Eve 2004, HP would not honor the warranty because I forgot to call them until January 4, 2005 (10 days after the one year warranty period). Needless to say, I would not recommend this camera to anyone and HP’s customer treatment leaves something to be desires. Read more Less

    Although the pictures that we took using macro weren't particularly impressive, the rest of the interior and exterior shots were very good and when we used the zoom it was no surprise that the HP Photosmart 945 was in a league of its own in this group. Clearly the HP Photosmart 945 isn't much use to you if you want a slim camera that you can drop into your jacket pocket, but other than that it's superb. Read more
