Pros: Great design, awesome display, very speedy, lightweight

Cons: A bit short on the battery life if you don't tamper with the settings, doesn't come installed with Microsoft Office

Though it might be a bit soon to write a review for a laptop I got almost 2 weeks ago, I must admit I am already very happy with it. It's a definite improvement from the piece of crap desktop I was forced to share with. Originally, I was aiming ...to purchase an HP dv2610us, but this was on sale for around that price and it came with 2GB of RAM, as opposed to 1GB on the dv2610us, and it has almost 100GB more hard drive on it. It was irresistible to pass up and 3 days after the purchase, the dv6745us came home. Considering this was my first-ever purchase on a laptop, I was naturally excited to use it in the moments it came home. Setting up the computer proved simple enough. One nifty thing I like about this laptop is that, like most new models of laptops, it has built in WiFi... probably not terribly exciting for those reading this, but it was a fairly new concept to me and I was elated, having been forced to use dial-up for a good portion of my life. Another new aspect to this was Windows Vista; I had read upon horror stories about Vista before purchasing and I was more than apprehensive about it but so far, it's much better than XP. However, one of my major peeves from this model, considering I use the program(s) a lot, was the lack of Microsoft Office-- it came with Works, but what good is it without Office? Fortunately, I was able to install Office 2003 onto it; I was unsure if 2003 would be compatible on a predominantly "newer" laptop, but it works great. Another thing that still irritates me is the battery life. No, it won't die on you if left unplugged for only an hour, but life seems to dwindle quickly on it if you don't tamper with your settings. All in all, even with its shortcomings, I see no problem with this laptop so far. It's a great investment for those who are looking for something new to use. Don't pass it up! C: Read more Less
