    Disappointing Control Panel

    Pros: Beautiful Coloring, Powerful Fax, Speedy Printing, Improved Software

    Cons: Hard to change preferences without pc, no shelf to keep printed papers seperated from blank ones

    I bought J4580 for one of my friends, and to be honest, although I found the appearance of this printer very attractive, I am completely disappointed with the way its control panel is designed. I myself have HP 5610, and although the functions of my ...device are more or less the same as J4580 (The Fax system and Print Speeding of J4580 are better), some of the useful controlling buttons of 5610 are not available in J4580 and they are included in digital settings of the device, which make changing preferences a little difficult, specially if you do it on the device without using PC. But Compared to 5610, there are a few improvements, the feeder space for papers is much bigger, and there is “Return” button on control panel available. Read more Less

    Worth nothing - Don't Buy It

    Pros: Compact Size

    Cons: HP Solution Center is waste of time.

    The machines button are written to be used with a microscope. All work fine. The multifunctions work with programs. You can print, fax, and scan in MS Word etc. The HP Solution Center Icon on your desktop does not fundtion correctly. Owned the machin...e 10 days and have emailed, online chatted, and talked with their Customer Service Reps about not being able to scan from the Solution Center and when you tell the fax machine not to answer any calls, it sends it handshake sound in the middle of phone calls. The HP site says their is a problem in faxing from the Solution Center they devote a page to it. Their solution does not work. E-Chat says go to that page. email says go to that page, and finally phone call sends you to that page. I have sent 4 emails each one listing what I had done to try to fix the problems. They really don't read them or can'read them. As soon as they see the error message you get they send you to the website page or cut and paste it into the email. Do not buy it. Read more Less
