Pros: HP offered free repair.

Cons: Didn't work straight out the box. Bad hard drive. HP's India warranty and service folks good do better!

Bought this from Best Buy 1Aug09. Unpacked the box which held great promise. Very nicely packed. The packing set-up held great promise. Unpacked everything, plugged it in, charged the battery as detailed, and was ready to get blown away. Or so I thou...ght... Machine would not start. Kept hanging and offering "Safe Mode" restart options. Trying this again, and again just produced the same result over and over. Call to HP Support who confirmed it was in warranty - hello I just bought it yesterday! We tried all sorts of stuff - power drains, BIOS options, memory tests and restarts. All to no avail. Two hours later, the support folks agreed it was not going to work. This is where we step into the twight zone. Having agreed the machine was bad, all they wanted to do was charge me $100 to renew the warranty and/or customize and buy a new machine. India - what can I tell you! Anyway, they compromized by agreeing to only charge me FedEx shipping to get it back to them... Hello again - I only bought it yesterday! After various "pass the buck" rounds in different departments eventually they agreed it did seem a bit unfair to charge me the shipping and that they agreed I would get that free. Ha,Ha. Anyway, the machine is going back to Best Buy when I get back home and I'm giving up on HP for the time being... Unless they want to contact me to apologise. Perhaps, even try a new approach. Bottomline is this. Machine seems cool and the packing makes it look like you are dealing with a killer company. But, like everything, lifes a craps shoot and my experience this time was a bad one. I think I'm going with the Samsung N110...apparently it has killer battery life! Read more Less
