    Pros: Fast, simple, clear

Cons: Maybe the receiving tray could be a little bigger. But it isn't bad.

I have had good luck with HP printers, so when I decided to get a new one, HP was the obvious choice. (My old HP Laserjet III was still going strong, but it was big and slow.) The 1300 was easy to set up and it spits out those pages really fast!I w...ill admit that I haven't had it very long--I just bought it last week--so I can't comment on how dependable it is over a long period of time. But our office has had a number of HP printers and they have been dependable. Read more Less

    HP LaserJet 1300

The LaserJet 1300 is fast, easy to use, and generates high-quality printouts quickly.Hewlett-Packard's LaserJet 1300 prints text at a speedy 15.2 pages per minute when connected to a single PC via USB--certainly fast enough to justify the printer's higher-than-average $399 price tag. PC World tests all SOHO printers over USB, but note that you can attach the 1300 to an ethernet network with an optional $200 card. We liked the 1300's clean, smooth text, though the text did look slightly lighter than that from some other laser printers. The 1300 also printed narrow parallel lines distinctly. Getting the printer running was easy even without HP's cartoonish setup poster--we just plugged it in and dropped the CD into the CD-ROM drive. The on-screen documentation provides great detail on everything else about the printer. Read more
