    First the bad news: It does indeed seem pretty shoddy in materials and workmanship. The plastic side piece that provides access to the parallel port, DIMM slot, etc. does not attach very solidly or easily. And no power button?? Come on HP, you can do... better for this price. Now the good news: This printer offers the better text and graphics quality in this price range. It rivals the quality of printers costing MUCH more. Also Im very impressed with the speed (Ive only used the parallel port option). The first page is out in a little less than 10 seconds and it just flies after that.Overall, because print quality and speed are so important to me, Im very pleased with my purchase. Hopefully HP will improve the 1200 in the future by adding a power button and maybe even a real owners manual. Read more Less

    Nice printer

    Pros: fast, reliable

    Cons: no power button, no abort button, big foot print.

    I use the printer at home and have it connected to two computers, one using the usb, and the other using the parrallel cable. I have had it for over a year and just replaced the toner cartridge. The printer has been reliable and produces very accu...rate prints and 12+ pages per minute. I will never go back to ink-printers again for black and white. Read more Less

    Pros: Sharp and crisp print

    Cons: Like all printers, cost of cartridges

    HP makes a great product and this is another example of that. Easy to install, recognized and loaded automatically in Win XP. The print is sharp and looks very professional.

    I am user of HP LaserJet 1200 from last 11 months. It is for my personal use. The first thing i like in this printer is its bombastic shape. 2nd is its printing speed which is 15 ppm according to my own bwnchmark. third one thing i like in this print...er is its 1200 dpi. i thought it is the best ever printer in laser category. I recomendes every one to buy and use laserjet 1200 printer from HP.Thanks. Read more Less
