Hardware very good.....software almost u
The HP cd-writer 8200e series burner is terrific as a burner. Easy to hook up, everything we needed came with it. Burns CD's at an OK speed considering it's limitations due to the external type of unit it is. About 20 - 30 minutes for an average CD.
However, the software that comes with this system is useless. The HP CD writer software doesn't convert the files into audio files which means the CD's you burn can't be played in your home stereo system, car CD player or boom boxes. I thought maybe I needed to change my perferences or something....but I couldn't find anything to change. The only good software is Music Match, and the version they sent me is older than the free version available on the internet.
Please note: the picture of the unit on this ordering page is outdated or wrong. The system you will get looks more like the 8220 system by HP.
Overall, I would highly recommend this system for burning CD's, provided you realize you'll need to either download or purchase additional software to use it easily.Was this review helpful? Yes - No
