Synopsis: Gulliver's Travels (1939)

Synopis: In 1939, Dave and Max Fleischer--who created the classic jazzy Betty Boop and Popeye cartoons--turned their animation skills to a feature film adaptation of Swift's classic novel. The film is alive with great visual and verbal gags and amazingly surreal visuals, both classic Fleischer traits. This animation classic picked up 2 Academy Award Nominations for Best Original Score and Best Song ("Faithful Forever").

   In my estimation, this is the greatest animated film ever made. It is made to be watched and enjoyed by both adult & child alike. The movie addresses jealousy, fear of the unknown, the folly of war and the difficulties of love & family. It also has just the right amount of comedy to keep the story moving and everyone interested.
   This one is fun for everyone! ...

   I wondered why the colorization of this masterpiece resembled a "Lost Disney Feature" until I looked on the cover and saw that the Producer worked for Disney's Colorization Department. Since the Fleischer Brothers had a distinctive color style that included bold blues and LED reds for a Fleischer Fan the change is one that is alarming but for everyone else the color is crisp and clear. The restoration process is at its finest on this DVD. The added foley work sometimes is louder than the source audio and can be annoying but when it is in synch. it works very well indeed.
   This feature is the Second Animated Feature in the History of Animation following Disney's Snow White by two years.This DVD will thrill children of every age for years to come. Highly
   Recommended!!!! ...
