The Guilty Gear animeflavored fighting franchise, which began in 1998, makes its Nintendo DS debut with Guilty Gear: Dust Strikers. The game includes a lineup of 21 quirky and colorful characters from previous versions and retains the 2D perspective the series is known for. There are a few changes, however, with the main adjustment being multitiered stages that span both DS screens. The increased vertical space allows for more characters to battle simultaneously, as players will be able to challenge up to four computercontrolled opponents or four friends via wireless connection.

Each stage is also filled with traps like poison, fire, thunder, and bombs, adding a new layer of strategy to the melee combat. Modes of play include arcade, survival, story, versus battle, and minigames. The last of these features touchscreen support in characterspecific activities that range from billiards and arm wrestling to swordplay and arcade variants. Success in the minigames will unlock special moves. In addition, Dust Strikers lets players program the RoboKy character with an assortment of move sets available within the RoboKy factory. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide
