Pros: beautiful movie that empowers you to better yourself

Cons: what cons? there are cons?? when did this happen?!?!!

what's great about this movie is it has plenty of laughs, but also something for your brain to work on. it's not entirely a comedy. some ppl don't get it, and that's something I would change if I could. my dad actually laughed during ...the part where Phil jumps to his death off the tower. I can't help misting up during that part because it's a study in what happens when you've tried everything you can think of, and it hasn't worked, and you're desperately unhappy with your life, and breakthroughs just aren't coming, and you can't see any end to the pain. if anybody still thinks that's funny, I can't help 'em. Pros: perhaps the most important movie ever made

Cons: not enough people have watched it

aside from some very entertaining comedy, this movie has grabbed and shaken every concept of the tao and spilled it on the ground in front of us. the concept of ''getting it right'' is the way to personal perfection. for each and ever...y one of us.over and over until our skin is ripped to shreds, and we are reborn, emptied from our shells of what we were, and into what we have become, and what is that? what our previous actions have determined. as we climb, not a mountain of faith, but a mountain of dissapointment, we see our flaws, when we wake up to them. and then, when our ways fail, and there is no way for us to have what we thought was right, and true, we can see so clearly, what is the true and right way for everything. then , as it is in the movie, as bill murry plods along un happilly doing his chores, we can find joy in our service, to ourselfs, and the world around us, and only then, when we have attained that joyless service, can the beauty of living, find us. our inner self. that shows us what we really were trying to have-...harmoney. and this movie proves that it is hard work, to fit in a world of chaos, but as bill murry puts down the swword of selfish desire, and picks up the plow of hard work, the character shows us him; a high priest of shoulin dedication, not to his own will, painful yes, as when he watched the old man die, over and over, and finally walks away from that pain, but to what must be, and becoming a crucial part, with a wisdom born thru adersity and skill and learning, what service is benificial to the whole, the whole of life,....and what is not. when i first saw this movie so many years ago, it rose to my very first favorite. why? because it showed me the answer to what i had been trying to put into words for so long.......you reap what you sow, and we are all judged by works.the reward comes to us for our works, by what we reap. and if you are seeking true love, true devotion,you must give it first. Groundhog Day is a great movie that will have you thinking about 'what ifs' every time you watch it. A story about a self-centered egomaniac (Murray), who relives one day, Groundhog Day, over and over. As a weather reporter for a Pa. news s...tation, Murray is on location in Puxatawny to report on the groundhogs response to his shadow. But, when the next day comes, it is still Groundhog Day. As a result, Murray tries to take advatage of the situation, but that only leads to depression and despair. Someone recently (2003) asked Roger Ebert if there was any movie he had given a bad review and would like to take back. Groundhog day was his answer. Murrays performance in Kingpin probably made Ebert look more closely at this movie, but still it w...as a pretty good movie. Read more Less

Groundhog day is the creme-de-la-creme of holiday oriented movies. As well, it easily makes my top 10 list of greatest all time comedies.
