There may be no link between the ten songs on BMG Special Products' Groove Power: The Best of '80s RB apart from the fact they were recorded in the '80s, but the budget-priced collection remains an entertaining sampler of urban soul, hip-hop and pop hits from the BMG vaults. Some of the songs have dated worse than others, but the best moments on the collection -- Billy Ocean's "Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run)," Whodini's "Friends," Expose's "Seasons Change," DJ Jazzy Jeff the Fresh Prince's "Parents Just Don't Understand," the Pointer Sisters' "Automatic" and Aretha Franklin's "Jump to It" -- are enough to make it an enjoyable listen, especially considering its budget price.
