    Heart!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 2, 2002

This is very good collection of Heart's 70's and early 80's material. I always thought of Heart as a poor man's Led Zeppelin, at least on their early albums, the way they shifted from acoustic beauty to electric bombast. It's fitting their cover of R...ock and Roll is included. Later they would change to slick radio pop in the 80's. All their best stuff is here and it sounds as though the tunes have been remastered. Ann Wilson has always been my favorite female rock vocalist with that glass shattering wail. Many of these tunes are staples of classic rock radio and for good reason. This is a must have for any fan who doesn't already have the entire collection. Read more Less

    "Heart" won't stop beating!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 22, 2001

Another retrospective look at Heart (I believe it's their third greatest hits record now), but this time it's more of the 70's and early 80's work. You thought you heard rock 'n' roll, but not like these two can do! With Ann's powerful and soothing v...ocal and Nancy's guitar wizardry that's why they're my favorite band in the whole world. No rock group does it better (not even Aerosmith or Zeppelin).Seeing how Ann and Nancy went off to have a little side group called the Lovemongers was brillancy in the making. It shows their creative repertoire and doesn't fail to please me, yet again. Either Heart or Lovemongers, Ann and Nancy show no signs of slowing down. Now if they would do a boxed set... Heart had a pair of greatesthits collections to their credit by 1997, but both did not contain all the renowned studio versions of their classic hits from the '70s (both 1980's Heart Greatest Hits: Live on Epic and 1997's Greatest Hits on Capitol contained half studio and half live material). 1998's Greatest Hits on Epic/Legacy finally corrected this once and for all collecting all of Heart's '70s studio hits on a single disc. Nearly all of the songs have become classic rock staples, the bestknown being the Zepesque rockers "Crazy on You," "Barracuda," and "Magic Man," while the more subdued acoustic material ("Dreamboat Annie," "Love Alive," "Dog Butterfly") showcases the immense talents of vocalist Ann Wilson. Other notables include "Kick It Out," "Heartless," "Bebe le Strange," "Straight On," and "Even It Up," while an allnew studio cut recorded in 1998 ("Strong, Strong Wind") and a live cover of Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll" from 1980 are included as bonuses. While Heart may hav...e enjoyed their biggest commercial success in the '80s with poporiented material, their more straightahead '70s work, showcased on Greatest Hits, has stood the test of time incredibly well. - Greg Prato, All Music Guide Read more Less

Biography

Heart

Sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson were the creative spark behind Heart, a hard rock group who initially found success in the mid-'70s, only to reach greater heights after engineering a major comeback a decade later. The daughters of a Marine Corps captain, Ann (born June 19, 1950) and Nancy (born March 16, 1954) grew up in both Southern California and Taiwan before the Wilso... Read more
