Pros: a new racing game...500+ cars again

    Cons: the modification process

i enjoyed playing gt3, but it was not even comparable to motor city online put out by EA. unfortunatly they cut funds to it to concentrate on the sims. it was by far the best racing game ever made. i hope to see some changes as far as the mods in gt4.... id also like to see more classic cars such as muscle cars which they eliminated from the second gt. if its ne thing like gran tourismo 2 it will once again regain a great racing game status in my book. Best game ever

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 8, 2004 | 5 out of 6 found this Gran Turismo 4 review helpful

    Pros: best game

    Cons: still the best

I mean this game has always been the best. I finished all the previous Gran turismos. This is the only game that I know of not being boring. I don't like those gingy plu plu tu tu games like driver Etc. It's for kids and get boring after the ...first 30 minutes of playing (isn't that right common) By the way did you see that this game puts so many things that other racing games don't even think about..might be the politics thing. ahah I honestly give 5 stars to all the makers of GT4.out of all the games made so far this is #1.p.s. Resident evil hold in there eheh Read more Less

    Much better than GT3

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 24, 2005 | 3 out of 3 found this Gran Turismo 4 review helpful

Pros: Everything you love about GT3, graphics, SWEET sound, snow, etc.

Cons: NIKE car...grrr....some old cars suck

...but it doesn't matter...because there are over 650 cars and 100 tracks in this game! The controls are great, graphics are even better, and their are even convertibles. There are also classic cars such as the DMC Delorean....ya gotta love it ;)... Great game, great purchase. This is as much bang to the buck you can get without doing any illegal activities ;) I got this game on launch (23rd; 22 was shipping date) and have been playing quite a bit. Buy it! You know you wanna ;) Read more Less

Pros: Amazing graphics, smooth gameplay and sound

Cons: The controls are sometimes confusing and not as simple as others

My cousin from Tokyo came and brought some games and we played this one for hours. I just couldn't get tired of it. The #1 thing I like about the game is the gameplay and graphics, simply grand! This racing game is definently up there with the re...st of awesome games of new century preatest game titles. Read more Less

    whats with the sound

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 10, 2005 | 2 out of 3 found this Gran Turismo 4 review helpful

    Pros: great graphics

    Cons: poor control and sound

man what is with the V8 cars soundin like 4 cyl. on steroids. when i put a racing exhaust on my camaro or corvett i dont want it to sound like a 4 cyl i want it to have a rumble like a V8 should. Whats with the handleing to man i have had horses that... handle better that these cars do.Come on, when i go around a corner in my Saleen S7 at 30mph the tires should not be sliding. ITS A RACE CAR!! it has a racing suspension that does nothin for it, tires that slide at 30mph. The computer can do just fine driving them but they dont have to deal with pressure sensetive buttons either. its a button not a trigger. And driving on dirt, why even offer dirt tires when they dont even do any good.Buy the dirt tires for a rally car and its like your driving on marbles ontop of ice. My dodge neon that i actually own can take corners faster than these cars and it doesnt have a racing suspension and dirt tires and all that stuff. I just think they could have done a little better with the handling of the cars. But its a fun game either way. Read more Less

Pros: The best driving model on the PS2; huge variety of cars, courses, and race types; one of the best-looking ps2 games ever; tons of content will keep you busy for weeks, if not months; well organized menus make searching your garage a pleasure, not a chore

Cons: Racing opponent AI is as dumb as ever; lack of damage modeling encourages sloppy driving; musical soundtrack is hit or miss; b-spec mode: huh?; no online.

Not many game series can be referred to as genre-defining, but in the world of console racing games, Gran Turismo fits the bill. Since 1998, the GT series has aimed to bring the vivid world of auto enthusiasm to your PlayStation and PlayStation 2 thr...ough a combination of realistic driving physics, massive car rosters aimed at pleasing the obsessive collectors in all of us, and courses from around the world, all topped off with state-of-the-art graphics and sound presentation that's redefined the technical capabilities of the console each title has appeared on. With the fourth installment in the series, the aptly named Gran Turismo 4, we find the franchise at the peak of its quantitative powers in a game that makes superlatives such as "big" and "sprawling" seem somehow inadequate. Yet beneath all the considerable content, Gran Turismo 4 remains remarkably similar to previous iterations in the series, which, depending on your point of view, may or may not be a good thing. Gran Turismo 4 features more than 700 cars from more than 80 manufacturers. As you might expect, the lineup leans heavily toward American, Japanese, British, and German makes, though you'll also have access to cars from Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Korea, among other countries. This variety is not simply limited to country of origin, however. The cars found in GT 4 range not only in their power and prestige, but also in their ages. The game features cars from every major era of auto manufacturing: from 1960s muscle cars, to powerful Japanese turbo machines of the mid '90s, to one-off concept cars that won't see city asphalt for 10 years or more, to examples from the very dawn of the auto era (such as the Ford Model T and the Daimler Motor Carriage from 1886). While the game's roster is impressive both in its size and scope, it must be said that a good portion of the cars, such as the aforementioned Daimler, won't be of much use to you in terms of progressing in the game. Indeed, as you move through the career mode, known as Gran Turismo mode, you'll quickly find your garage piling up with cars from race and series wins; their only value to you will be as resells. On the plus side, a dramatically improved garage interface will let you quickly and easily sort through your car collection, no matter how large that collection becomes. Sorting through criteria such as country of origin, drivetrain, manufacturer, or power-to-weight ratio is a huge improvement from scrolling down an ever-elongating list while hoping to spot your car of choice based on model alone, as was the case in previous GTs. The available cars, of course, are only part of the attraction of GT4. The game also features more than 50 courses to drive, including a tantalizing mix of real-life racetracks such as Fuji Speedway, Suzuka, and Laguna Seca; a cosmopolitan array of city courses from metropolises such as Hong Kong, Seoul, and the Big Apple; rally courses on dirt and (new for this installment) snow and ice; and old fictional friends such as Grand Valley Speedway, Deep Forest Raceway, and Trial Mountain. Two particularly notable additions to the GT4 track roster are El Capitan, a three-mile behemoth designed around the imposing granite centerpiece of Yosemite National Park, and the Nürburgring Nordschliefe, which, at nearly 13 miles long, is imposing in its own right. The Circuit de la Sarthe, the annual site of the 24 Hour of LeMans race, makes an appearance in two flavors: the current track and the old configuration, which is thankfully free of the chicanes that currently mar the four-mile back straight. Pros: racing game, hundreds of cars

    Cons: no damage, just wear

They said Forza Motorsport was better, i sorta believe them... BUT my mind is changing. although my cuz is dissappointed that there are no ferraris, I still love the game! ntm its extremely cheap! and to make up for the fact there are no ferraris, th...ere are a bunch of other makes and tracks that you never knew that had existed before. There is even a car that has no make, the sileighty, what sux is that you need to get licenses on the game to race events, the B, A, iB, iA, and S licenses. what rox is you'll get a B-spec driver (cpu racer) to work for you. you still get to race though, as an A-spec racer. find out more by buying this game, rated E for everyone.
