    Great Buy for the Money

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 13, 2009

    Pros: Sturdy, Smooth

    Cons: Display

Great for the money. Read many reviews and decided to give it a try. The first display didnt work so exchanged for the second and one speaker doesnt work but Ill be using my headphones most of the time. I am 220 and it is sturdy, smooth, challenging and my knees dont hit the handle bars and I am 5'7''. I am excited about it and cant wait to take my health back! You cant beat watching TV while you exercise in your own home!

    Obvious Shortcuts...

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 12, 2008

    Pros: See Below

Cons: REad re: Interplay Mp3-CD Music Port

The bike itself is sturdy, and quiet. But the console mount to the support is weak and if a user holds on to the heart-rate handles too heavily while pedalling, the entire console wrenches to the sides and will break from the mount before long.

The biggest issue in my book is the tauted Mp3/CD Player "Interplay" port, which the manual states is the bike's "STEREO SYTEM" in two locations, page 11 & 14. The manufacturer has this same claim from the manual posted on their site. THE UNIT HAS ONLY ONE SPEAKER - VERY TINY, AND REPRODUCES ONLY THE RIGHT CHANNEL. IT DOES NOT EVEN SUM THE LEFT & RIGHT CHANNELS TO PLAY IN MONO, IT SIMPLY DROPS THE LEFT CHANNEL. The circuit board inside supports both left and right, if you connect a speaker to the second set of speaker terminals you DO get the left channel, but manufacturer decided to cut costs here and leave out one speaker! Makes me wonder what else they took such obvious shortcuts on.

I contacted the manufacturer (ICON Health & Fitness - don't use Website they provide in the manual - it sneakily just sends you to a site that SELLS Icon's products instead of a site that would provide you customer support - Go instead to WWW.ICONFITNESS.COM) First they said, and I quote: "Well, we don't know HOW they do it, it has only one speaker, but it IS STEREO..." Yeah, and I have only one ear... Then on a follow up they admitted the incorrect statement and that they don't intend to advertise any other way, but you only get the one channel.

This may not bother a user, the sound is very feeble anyway, but while you’re sitting there on the bike, exercising for a half of an hour, you get to stare at the console of the unit you bought, knowing that they gave you HALF OF THEIR "STEREO" SYSTEM.

Luckily, both the left and right pedals are included.
