Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
Kanye West did the right thing by signing this dude. Youve heard him before on many other artist projects, mainly playing piano on Lauryn Hills Everything is Everything and singing the hook on Slum Villages Selfish. So, Id say that Kanye and John thought that it was about time for him to do his own thing and boy did he. The first single was I used To love You. I wasnt really feeling the song at first but after the radio played it enough, it grew on me. Not enough to get the CD, though. Then on night I couldnt sleep and I heard on the radio Ordinary People. That was it for me .I just HAD to get the CD. I got it the next day and it was worth every penny. It hasnt left my CD player since. Kayne and John gave us a masterpiece with this one. Johns piano playing is superb and his vocals are on point. Even Mr. West and Snoop Dogg make guest appearances on songs, as well as Johns whole family on the song It Dont Have To Change. This CD deserved every Grammy it got. Great things will come from Mr. Legend in the future. You just watch.
Pros: Promising debut with Kanye at the helm
Cons: None significant enough to discuss
"Get Lifted," the debut release from Kanye West protege John Legend, is certainly one of the finer soul releases of 2004, but let's not get carried away with the superlatives. Truth is, this record doesn't stray from the conventions of the genre we now know as "neo soul," and it follows the neo-retro handbook a bit too closely. But that doesn't mean "Get Lifted" isn't worth checking out. With the assistance of Mr. West's production, Legend serves up an appealing dish of piano-flavored r&b that recalls the 1970s with the occasional dash of hip hop. Legend makes a convincing impression on "I Can Change" (with Snoop Dogg, in his umpteenth cameo), stands out memorably in the piano-only ballad "Ordinary People," and gives us vocal range on the excellent "Let's Get Lifted Again." What makes "Get Lifted" worth the trip is the raw emotion found in Legend's voice and the different moods and flavors that can be found throughout the album. At no point do you suspect that he's jumping on a bandwagon for easy cred, and that can't be said for a many r&b stars these days. Though John Legend hasn't quite yet lived up to his name, this solid debut shows that he's at least on the right path. Grade: B+.
Pros: The gospel song beat
Cons: slow
John Legend with somr of his songs have impacted some of the people everywhere around the world
Pros: Great voice,great music,great job!
Cons: Not really so remarkable at the first time you listen to it.
It's been a sweet journey since I got this album,I don't really like it at the first time when a friend recommended it to me,but after a few times of the careless listening,I found the voice of this man is really touching as hell!
48th Grammy has given him much honor for this album, and it is really worthy of that!
Pros: Very soulful and entertaining
Cons: None
This album is a gem. It's rare to find music that moves you to the extent that this does.
The album has a different mix of songs. There are different themes including love being lost but moving on "used to love you". The theme of cheating "she don't have to know" and "number one" feat. Kanye West- these are naughty songs and entertaining. Also of course the theme of being in love "ordinary people", "stay with you", "let's get lifted", "so high" and "refuge".
All of the songs in the album have their own value and brilliance (love them!).
I especially love "stay with you" and "so high". These 2 songs are so uplifting that listening to them is almost a spiritual experience for me.
The production is amazing and beautiful.
Pros: EVERYTHING
Cons: NOTHING

Pros: Everyhing is good
Cons: Theres nothing bad
Well, as far as I know there is nothing wrong with the CD. The song "Ordinary People" is my favorite song from that album. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying the rest of the songs aren't good but I think that that is one of the best songs he has on his CD.
Thank you for your time and please allow me to rate another!.

Pros: SOULFUL SOUND
Cons: NONE
I HAVEN'T HEARD THE ENTIRE CD BUT SO FAR VERY IMPRESSED. I WILL BE GOING TO BUY THIS CD.
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing At All
He definitely offers something of value and substance that seems to be lacking in many other artist today. He had me standing out in sleet trying to buy a ticket from bystander who may have been holding onto an extra ticket at a sold out venue... just so that I could say that I saw him before he was big... He will be one of our best vocalist/artist for years to come...
