George Porter, Jr.
Along with Art Neville, Leo Nocentelli and Zigaboo Modeliste, New Orleans RB bassist George Porter, Jr. was a founding member of the Meters, New Orleans' premier funk band of the '60s and '70s. Porter remained in demand as a session musician for many years, and Runnin' Partner, his own 1990 album on Rounder, displayed his multi-faceted approach. After a five-year hiatus, he returned with Things Ain't What They Used to Be; Funk This followed in 1997.
