good bang for your buck
Pros: 120GB HD, widescreen, price
Cons: poor view quality (not recommended for DVD watching), CD/DVD burner malfunction, broken right-click button on mouse pad
Bought for $975 from Circuit City 10/2006 that included two mail-in rebates for $200 (final price $775). Quick processor. Fabulous bright wide screen that offers great view. Horrendous, however, for DVD watching purposes. Speakers are average, get the job done. Burner crapped out within two months (had to buy external). Issue with battery plug-in--jack malfunction will force me to shell out an extra $100-200 for new motherboard. Decent value, but there are better machines out there.

Pros: Nice anti-glare screen, lots of storage, fast, works with windows vista
Cons: up to 3 hours of battery life, low quality graphics card
A very, very nice computer. I havent had a single problem with it since i got it. If you use the windows upgrade advisor it will tell you that it doesnt recognize some of the hardware and that it wont work with windows aero, but since ive loaded windows vista i havent seen a single problem infact it works great with it. It will play movies smoothly and the speakers sounds fantastic. It does have a have a hard time doing 3d games with windows aero enabled, but if you use windows xp it should work great or turn to windows basic on vista it should work great.

i got this unit online at Circuit City at the low price of $699. I have used it for over a month now, and it's working great! It doesn't get too hot even after using it for 5 hours. Also, wireless connection to the internet is so easy. It's really a wonderful item.

Pros: Bright screen, lots of memory, hard drive, speed
Cons: Media Center doesn't work
I bought at Circuit City on sale - good value. Everything good except Microsoft Media Center doesn't work. After 2 days of loading software and upgrades, Gateway said reinstall system and reformat hard drive. It didn't solve problem. Returned first computer, got second one, IT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. In Media Center set up, when the speakers are tested, "a critical media center process has failed" Gateway wants me to exchange for a third computer, I'm not convinced this will solve the problem.

Cons: 8 cell battery don't last very long.
I love my new laptop, It is faster than my desktop.
