Pros: looked nice
Cons: died at 3 months out of warranty
Total piece of crap!!!
Worked for one year with various problems at the end where you turn it off it won't go off - OR it won't come back on - you have to unplug it first and then one night it just died. I have seen many others with this same monitor and the same problems with the system that mine started out with
Purchased 7/15/06 - Died 11/03/07 was totally protected from anything bad but died anyway.
Gateway says "TOO BAD - have it repaired at your cost"
Best Buy says it is not worth the cost of the repair as the circuit board is fried.
I will NEVER waste my money on a Gateway product again.
GATEWAY - Pay $450.00 for a monitor that lasts 15 months

Pros: hands down, better than any CRT I've ever looked at
Cons: Didn't come with a DVI cable
I looked high and low before buying an LCD monitor. I've been very apprehensive about even going to LCD because Ive seen some people playing games on one and theyve always looked absolutely horrible. I finally had the money to get something of quality so nothing was going to stop me from getting the monitor I wanted. After looking at a bunch of websites, and countless numbers of monitors all claiming certain specs, I decided to call a couple gaming buddies. One said he had this monitor and he said it was better than his Apple monitor that broke earlier this year. The Apple has a response of 16 ms, and the Gateway is 8 ms, and costs $200 less. The choice was easy. I took it home and I was absolutely blown away by the quality of the picture. It's crystal clear, and Quake 3 looks BETTER on this than on my CRT.
Pros: Great Value for the Price
Cons: Unecessary Software/Drivers complicate issues
I purchased this monitor to replace my huge CRT. Out of the box it worked great. At the time, I did not have a video card that supported the native resolution of the monitor, but installing the software that came with it allowed me to view everything as I should.
The software that comes packaged with it does some auto tuning and detects to see if the monitor is in the landscape or portrait position and adjusts the display as needed.
However, after several weeks of use, the viewed text because slightly distorted and caused a headache (literally). Long story short: Gateway blamed the software company; software company blamed Gateway; Gateway made me reformat my hard drive (unnecessarily), then finally replaced the monitor.
The new monitor worked great and has since then (about three months). Also, about a month ago I upgraded to a new, mid-grade, graphics card. This card supported the native resolution of the monitor and lets you adjust the display (landscape, portrait) manually. No need for that extra software!
Overall, I'm happy with the monitor. I was little disappointed with Gateway's support, but I understand they were trying to protect their profit margin.
