Piece of Junk, Terrible customer service.

    Pros: can't think of any

    Cons: many

Difficult camera to program and operate, even following the instruction book that came with it. We did not open the box until six weeks after it was purchased. It didn't have a cord to connect it to the computer nor a CD for it's software t...o make it run. TOO BAD was Gateways response - they didn't supply missing parts after 30 days - NO EXCEPTIONS!We do have a printer we can put the data card into but, all we can get out is pictures with heavy lines in it.We have spent roughly $3500.00 on Gateway products in the last 2 years - NEVER AGAIN! Doesn't work - zero support - DO not buy

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 23, 2004 | 4 out of 4 found this Gateway DC-M50 review helpful

Pros: Good zoom, high pixel quality

Cons: Memory card errors, lost pictures, slow, no support

We thought we had thoroughly researched the DC-T50 prior to purchasing but somehow missed all the poor reviews of Gateway Tech Support and the various errors experienced by other users. We have suffered through "Protected Card Error", "...Missing Card" , blank screens, locked zoom, and the plain old refusal to turn on. Even when batteries are new. We even purchased another card and still received the error. Gateway is nearly impossible to contact. After 5 tries of going through a maze of menus then being disconnected, we were told the camera could not be returned but if we pay to ship it, it might be fixed within 4-6 weeks. So not only have we missed (or taken and the camera dropped) pics from our daughter's bday and holidays, we will miss our vacation unless we spring another $500 on another camera and call this one a wash. Most disappointed I have EVER been with a product. Spare yourself. Do not buy it. Read more Less

    Don't buy this one!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 10, 2005 | 1 out of 1 found this Gateway DC-M50 review helpful

    Pros: Takes nice pictures

Cons: Memory card errors, slow to boot up and respond.

I've had this camera for over a year now and hate it! 90% of the time it can't find it's memory card or comes up with a card error. Sometimes it won't turn on. I will say that when it will actually turn on and find it's card it do...es take nice pictures but there are a lot of cameras that take nice pictures without all the bugs! Don't buy this camera Gateway should be sued for even making it! Read more Less

    EXCELLENT CAMERA FOR NOVICE PHOTOGRAPHERS

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 29, 2004 | 1 out of 1 found this Gateway DC-M50 review helpful

    Pros: MANY

    Cons: VERY FEW

I am an experienced photographer who has worked as a professional wedding portrait specialist for years. I just bought this camera this past March and simply love it. It is very easy to use and makes digital photography a snap to switch over to fr...om using film equipment. The only drawback is that when the batteries go almost to the point of going dead the focusing no longer works effectively. And the built in battery life indicator is not reliable either. It will show a full charge eventhough the batteries are very weak. The camera becomes very sluggish and slow to use at this point so the user must be alert to this drawback. The support department is excellent. There is hardly any wait to speak to someone on the phone when you need them either. They were able to help me solve my problem quickly and easily. The software that is supplied is easy to use and simple to learn for a new user too.Simply put this is a great 5 megapixel camera for a bargain price. This is a good camera

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 8, 2004 | 1 out of 2 found this Gateway DC-M50 review helpful

    Pros: 5 megapixels

    Cons: programming can be tedious

I can't rate the support because I haven't needed it. The only drawback is the programming. It takes some time and you lose it when changing batteries (I haven't found a place for a backup battery on the camera). Programming doesn't t...ake a rocket scientist though and the default settings are good enough for the average user. The pictures are good, it did come with Gateway's software but I prefer HP's over it. At the time we got this camera it was the lowest priced 5 megapixel on the market. I am not sure about what is out there currently. The camera did come with everything needed to start taking pictures and downloading them to your pc. Read more Less

    Pros: not much

    Cons: many

i have owned this camera for a few years and hate it. like one other guy said, "gateway should be sued for selling this piece of crap". i would now, never consider buying any gateway product. mine changes modes by itself when you turn it on..., it can't focus, it eats batteries, etc, etc, etc....i have taken a few good pics with it, but it's been a challange.
