Pros: Accurate, Price, Compact, Easy, Bright Screen, Long battery life
Cons: No manual, or USB Cable
I had a TomTom first, bad choice, led me wrong many different times, and two of my friends have a TomTom, different models, said the same thing. TomTom support even confirmed it, and told me to do mapshare. I need directions right the first time. I canât be bothered with making corrections. So, back to the store it went. This Garmin is AWESOME! It is accurate, easy to use, street names are pronounced very clearly most of the time, occasionally pronounced wrong, but you can still understand, a very minor detail. You donât need the manual, but would be nice to have. (Can download from garmin.com). It does however, come with set up instructions, but itâs so easy to use, I never even referred to those. This unit is very light and compact, and will fit in your pocket or purse easily, but I keep mine in a carry case when not in use. Donât buy a Garmin case, too small, and the price is too high. I found a very inexpensive, generic one on eBay. Because I donât like mounting to the windshield, I also purchased an inexpensive, universal non-skid, friction style weighted dash mount, that doesnât move, unless you move it, and is also portable to use in other vehicles. (Google it, youâll find it). An SD card can be purchased separately for the jpg viewer. If you wish, you can download custom vehicle icons from garmin.com, and also download additional voices for the Text-To-Speech (TTS) feature. Very surprised it didnât come with a USB cable, just the vehicle power cable, but if you have a digital camera, you can use that cable to charge the unit connecting it to your computer. DO NOT USE YOUR CELL PHONE CABLE. IT CAN FRY YOUR UNIT, PER GARMIN. Re-routing isnât a problem. It re-calculates quickly. I also like the fact that you can adjust the screen brightness, to save the battery life. Garmin support by phone is great, but at peak times, you may have a wait. Iâve had no problems with this unit, there arenât any extra frills added, does exactly what it is supposed to do, and the price is right. I am very happy. I highly recommend this unit.
Pros: All around great unit
Cons: Have not found any as of yet
Has taken us many a places with no problem whatsoever!
Pros: Easy to use and very quick reroutes.
Cons: When tested where I live, doesn't always give you best route. But it always gets you to the correct location if you have address correct
I'm not sure where the review saying getting map updates requires extra equipment is coming from. All it requires is a computer with internet access, and the unit comes with the cable. ?? This is my first auto GPS, though I have another Garmin for the boat. I highly recommend Garmin. I have not had any problems with this unit taking me to wrong location, though there have been a few tests where it tried to take me down non-existent or small backroads that were really not the best route. Other times it has taken me more direct routes that I found out later were shorter, but not faster, perhaps because of increased traffic counts on those roads? Not sure, but overall I am very pleased with this unit.
Pros: ease of use, bright display
Cons: directions correct only 90% of the time, updates to maps should be easier
I was moving to a new city so I bought a GPS to help me get around. I was going to a business 16 miles from my home, this device took me 17 miles BEYOND my destination. If I had a hammer.........
When I turn the unit on, it's supposed to find its own location via satellite. It is usually 2-3 blocks off the mark, therefore, the resulting directions are invalid.
By the way, the maps loaded at the factory are about 2 years old and getting updates is inconvenient, requiring additional equipment. I would not recommend this unit as I have all but quit using it. I plan to purchase another unit after some exhaustive research.
Pros: Bright Screen, Ease of Use, Price
Cons: N/A
Just to let you know QVC sells case for 3.5 and 4.3 screen for 18.00
Pros: so easy to use, compact enough for my convertible
Cons: owners manual
My husband got this for me because I am always lost. I thought it would be too much of a hassle to learn to use and that I wouldn't end up using it. Not so! You don't even have to open the setup guide to learn it, it's so easy.
It's reliable in its directions and I will never travel without it!!!
A must for travelers, teenage drivers, and the directionally-impaired
Pros: ease of use, bright screen, compact
Cons: No owners manual, no case provided
This was my first GPS purchase. Its very easy to use even though Garmin has yet to publish the owner's manual. Street names are usually correct, but once in a while it doesn't say the name exactly as it should. This is not a problem, however.
I would recommend this to anyone wanting to purchase a GPS. My wife takes it with her wherever she goes. Fits in her purse and battery life is good. Would have liked Garmin to provide a soft case with the product to prevent the screen from getting scratched. A small wallet sized coin older works great.
Go buy one and enjoy!
Pros: Price, ease of use, portability
Cons: NA
This GPS is really easy to set-up and use. Voice commands including giving street names is extremely helpful! Screen is bright and clear and easy to read. I highly recommend this unit!
Pros: PORTABLE
Cons: SEARCH FOR SATELLITE A LITTLE SLOW
I love the way you can look places up
while someone else is driving. The one my husband has installed in his SUV you have to pull over and stop to look up places or new directions.
It is easy to use, easy on the eyes,
and cute that it says the street names even if they pronounce it wrong it gets me to the places I need to go. I just love it!!!!!
Everyone should have a Garminy.
Pros: Easy & Accurate
Cons: Limited info in manual
Yes, the manual that comes with it is pretty limited. The operation is simple, though, and it only takes minimal intelligence to operate it. One slight hith was that when I fired the unit up the screen brightness, (from the factory), was minimum and it took me awhile and some close looks to get a screen that was usable. Everything is great now and I'm very happy with it.
Pros: ease of use, clear bright screen, 6 million point of interest
Cons: dashboard mount is permanent, needed to buy a seperate mount
bought this to use for business travel, so long battery life is important feature. very simple menu and easy to follow instructions.
