Pros: GPS Works well and very detailed maps!! excellent feel!!

    Cons: Could use more ports

First time user of a Pocket PC. Very user friendly. Synced with my outlook data and I was working with it in no time!! Battery run time is awsome!! never have had a chance to run it down, it just keeps going. Flipping out the GPS antenna turns on the... GPS, which is a simple one handed job. Great addition to my life!! Read more Less

Product Description The iQue M5 is perfect for today's mobile professional who wants to get from the boardroom to the hotel without asking for directions. Featuring the latest Microsoft Pocket PC software, Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition, the... iQue M5 supports portrait/landscape screen orientation for easy viewing of documents, videos, and web content. It's powered by a 416-MHz Intel PXA 272 microprocessor, and it also provides the user with 64 MB of RAM, 64 MB of ROM and data back-up protection. The embedded Bluetooth transceiver allows the user to establish a personal-area network with computer systems and Bluetooth-enabled devices such as mobile phones, other PDAs, and printers. Check e-mail and view documents - then sync seamlessly with your laptop. The GPS antenna on the iQue M5 folds flush with the back of the unit. Press the antenna release switch, and it simultaneously powers up the iQue M5, acquires satellites, and defaults to the QueMap interface. Once the antenna switch is triggered, the M5 prepares to navigate. The antenna can be adjusted for optimal GPS signal reception in any vehicle or rental car. Featuring a built-in basemap of North and South America and Puerto Rico, the iQue M5 shows major highways, thoroughfares, railways, lakes, rivers, and borders. MapSource City Select CD-ROM is a standard accessory, so users can download detailed street-level map data, look up more than five million points of interest (POIs), and navigate to an address in the U.S. and Canada. World travelers can also add a European or Pacific Rim basemap from the installation CD. International versions of the iQue M5 will feature respective basemaps, mapping software, and language support. The integrated Que applications enable consumers to see where they are on an electronic map, look up a point of interest (POI), and route to it - all the while following voice-prompted, turn-by-turn directions. If they miss a turn, the iQue M5 automatically recalculates a new route to get them back on track. Advanced routing features include the ability to specify roadways to avoid and find POIs near the current route. The iQue M5 even offers intuitive POI searches that are based on user habits. Another distinct benefit of Garmin's PDA/GPS integration is the patent-pending capability to attach a "location stamp" to a profile in the user's contact database or appointment calendar and navigate directly to these important business addresses. -------------------------

best device I have ever purchased

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 26, 2006 | 2 out of 2 found this Garmin iQue M5 review helpful

Pros: GPS/PDA Combo, efficiency, Tech support,

Cons: Not compatable with many after market programs

I have had three PDA's (including the M5) and this is the best one on the market, bar none. The GPS is extremely accurate as expected from Garmin. The PDA works great and syncs quickly compared to the other two PDAs I owned. This is the second M5... I owned. The first one had some internal issues and upon contacting Garmin directly, they never hesitated in replacing it and sending me another one. After-market software add ons are not friendly with the M5. I tried adding some software that were Pocket PC compatable and it either slowed the device or caused other problems. Windows Media Player is great and with a video compression program to compress DVDs the device is great, but try adding super solitare and the system has issues. Use caution when purchasing aftermarket software for this device. I purchased the Europecity Mapsource v.7 and it was very user friendly and operation on the device was very accurate. I have yet to become misoriented or lost since I began using this device. One thing I would recommend to Garmin is to have an additional port for charging. When you travel with the device, you can either sync or charge it but you can't do both at the same time. Syncing using battery power drains it rapidly. Also, add a USB port to download MS Word or Excel documents from a pen drive. And finally add a WI-FI device for wireless Internet to eliminate having to purchase an aftermarket SDIO card, which are hard to find for the M5. My recommendations for this device do not change my appreciation for the device. I take the device with me everywhere and use it constantly. My other devices I rarely used for numerous reasons. I showed my M5 to various friends and family members and several have purchased it and loved it. Read more Less
