Game Boy Advance SP is the remarkable new redesign of the wildly popular Game Boy Advance. The SP system's innovative illumination feature and sleek flip-screen design make it the most stylish and compact Game Boy system ever. Shaped like a cosmetics compact, the SP has a 2.4- by 1.6-inch unfolding screen built into its lid. It folds into a 3-inch square that's only about an inch thick - nearly half the size of earlier units. Great for travel and easy to store, the SP is the most portable Game Boy system yet. Building on the significant improvements and refinements introduced in the current Game Boy Advance, the SP features a revolutionary Front Light Screen that makes game play comfortable in any lighting condition. The system is powered by a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery that provides about 10 hours of game play. Allow three hours for the battery to recharge. For extended game time, turn the Front Light Screen off. This gives you an amazing 18 hours of continuous play. All current and future Game Boy Advance games are compatible with this new system. Game Boy Advance SP is backward compatible, allowing for use with virtually all games and accessories previously released for Game Boy. Measures approximately 3" x 3" x 1".

By far the best Game Boy ever!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  May 17, 2004 | 5 out of 6 found this Game Boy Advance SP review helpful

Pros: Compact, light-up screen, rechargable, backward-compatable with old Game Boy games

Cons: attachment required to use headphones

Nintendo has hit closer to perfection than ever with their Game Boy Advance SP. The only gripe I had about the orginal Game Boy Advance was its dark, unprotected screen. Those problems are no more with the new GBA SP. The screen is now side-lit, m...aking play in absolute darkness possible. The system now folds up like a laptop so it takes up less space and protects the screen from scatches when not in use. Not only that, but the GBA is now rechargable, doing away with the expense of batteries. The only flaw of the system is that you must buy a $5 attachment to use headphones. Other than that, I completely love my SP. Read more Less
