Pros: worked awesome for a few months
Cons: leaks and eventually stopped working
I didn't even use it every day! I wish I could take it back, but I've had it for a year so I got screwed!
Pros: Makes the best coffee ever!
Cons: Water, water, everywhere!
I have never tasted such delicious coffee from any coffee maker, but shortly after we purchased the coffee maker we started have problems. The pot leakes all over the counter when you pour coffee into your cup. The lid broke and would not close enough to brew. We were sent a replacement lid that didn't match the original lid. Soon after, the coffee maker started leaking water everywhere. Since it has a 2 year complete replacemtn warranty, we will try to get GE to send a new one, since ours was purchased in November of 2007. Don't they test these products before they are sold to the public?
Pros: The features
Cons: Water Leak
This product did not last more than 6 months. The features are great, time set, automatic grinder, and great tasting coffee. The coffee maker leaked a couple of times and shorted out. It is a poor system..Needs major work..I would not recommend this to anyone!
Pros: first impressions are good...
Cons: Leaks
Leaks, The grinder self destructed. This is a GE product and I expected more from them.
Pros: taste, ease of use
Cons: nothing
i've had it for over 2 months and the coffee maker is awesome. i set it to grind at 6:00am and by the time i go downstairs the whole house smells like a coffee shop. you have to be clean about these things to keep the great taste. coffee tends to rot just like any other food product so keep your maker clean and it shouldn't have any problems. also, use the best beans possible... a coffee maker can only make good coffee from good beans...
Pros: looks good
Cons: everything
This coffee maker was purchased on the 12th of February 2008.
It is now 19 May 2008 and the following problems have occurred. The grinder continuosly clogs and must be cleaned out after each brewing cycle, the top door to load coffee or water has a broken hinge and now it leaks water, even the GE logo has fallen off the front. Overall a real dissapointment and should not even be on the market.
This coffee maker is used in our home and was never used for more than a pot of coffee per day.
Pros: Worked fine for a month or 2
Cons: Water all over - Leaks
I loved it the style , the design , the grinder - for about a month after Christmas - then it started leaking and all kinds of stuff - would only brew one cup and 7 cups of water on the countertop.
I called the walmart customer hotline and there is a problem with this coffee maker - it has been recalled - call this number 1-877-207-0923 US 1-877-556-0973 in Canada ... then take it back to Walmart for a refund or exchange .
Pros: programmable
Cons: Messy
I program mine for 5:30 A.M.. As long as I don't try to grind beans, and always seal up the grounds spout it works, but just barely. Very messy, leaks, hard to clean. I broke the carafe, and can not find a replacement, so I will put it in the recycle building and NEVER buy another G.E. again!
Pros: All
Cons: Does not keep coffee hot long enough
I love this coffee pot and have not had one single problem with it. It could be that those who have it and have not liked it are probably not following directions when using it, i.e., to many beans, not enough water. But I do have one issue with it. It does not keep the coffee hot long.
Pros: Looks nice sitting on counter
Cons: Everything
This coffeemaker is going back to the store today. We've had consistent problems with it -- I can't count how many times we've rinsed out the parts, filled the basket with coffee grounds, and turned it on, only to find the coffeepot empty and steaming half an hour later. We then empty out the basket, turn the machine over and dump the water out, clean the parts and try again ... only to have the same results. We've wasted more coffee doing this. I understand we need to keep the machine clean, but yesterday morning we dumped and cleaned the machine no less than four times in an attempt to brew a single pot of coffee -- and we were unsuccessful. These slick-looking machines are disguising cheap parts underneath. And nowhere in the manufacturer's directions will you find a section for troubleshooting. Give me a simple, $10 coffeemaker any day over this thing.
Pros: Mesh coffee filter, built-in gringer
Cons: doesn't keep hot very long, leaks all over counter
I received this for Christmas 2007. The basic idea and price was great, but it leaks all over the counter. The heating plate on the bottom also doesn't keep it hot past 2 hours, so if you're making coffee for yourself for the entire day, you're in trouble. It tastes funny when you re-heat it in the microwave or on the stove. The built in grinder is a wonderful feature, as is the mesh basket filter but if you don't have a disposer in which to remove the grounds, it's awkward. After about the second week, it began leaking. Like crazy. I've murdered about 7 or 8 perfectly innocent kitchen and bathroom towels in the process of trying to salvage the use of this machine! From other reviews I've read, this is a very, very common problem. I checked it several times and can't find the leak source. If I owned the condo in which we live, I'd have several hundred dollars in repair to the counter top it sits on. This was on sale when it was bought. I'm wondering if Wal-Mart knew this when it went on sale. It's too late to be returned at this time; the heat also caused the GE logo on the front of the maker to fall off. Take it from me, a coffee NUT: If you're going to buy a good coffee maker, do not seek out sales. Invest wisely. Like a car, it's better to have the best that fits your needs than repeated trips to the dealership resulting in your having to buy a new one, eventually. Here's a quick fix I've resolved to:
Wrap a terry towel at the base of the maker when you begin. 1/2 way through the brewing process, re-pour about 2 glasses of water into the maker. Hit the "off" button twice to turn it off then on again so it can continue to do it's "thing." This will brew a full pot.
Pros: somewhat attractive stainless surfaces
Cons: everything else
recieved one for christmas 2007 so had to keep it to be polite. horrible coffee maker. it is so tall it barely clears my cabinets by a hair. grinder sounds like an airplane taking off. after grinding and brewing, steam permiates the grinder leaving a gooey mess, so it needs a complete cleaning and drying after every use. slow brew time. the pot dribbles all over the counter because of the design of the plastic top. have gone back to grinding in my old grinder and just using it to brew coffee....but my old 12 cup brewer that cost 12 dollars did a better job of that too.
Pros: Easy to clean
Cons: Leaks out over kitchen counter
My wife purchased GE coffee maker with grinder in September of 2007, We have been using it since December of 07, I fill to 8cup capacity but it leaks all over the counter when perking Then we get about 4 cups when it is done, Alot of steam vapors appear all over the front of it when perking. I put paper towels behind the coffee machine to catch excess coffee and water.I know I can't be the only one with this problem, I would appreciate a response to my problem or I will have to find another coffee maker and I'm sure it wouldn't be GE. Thank you,
