    Full Metal Jacket

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 1, 2003 | 1 out of 1 found this Full Metal Jacket (1987) review helpful

Full Metal Jacket is a must for people who enjoy watching movies on Viet Nam. Vincent Donofrio is magnificent as a Marine recruit dealing with the training and punishment of not making the grade as an under acheiver in basic training. From start to finish you experience the Marine Unit from basic school to the war in Viet Nam.

    Definatly a Classic

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 14, 2002

Full Metal Jacket is really a great movie. There is no other movie quite like it. The begining is in so funny, but only because it depicts how horrible boot camp was. This is really a two part movie. Boot Camp and In country. Both of them are contrast of each other. And show the loss of innocens in the main character. And the end song really shows that we sent 'boys' over there. There is no other moive I quite enjoy nearly as much or have seen nearly as much.

    Boys from Comapny C

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 5, 2001

In 1978 there was a movie. A great movie. Full of narration, great drama, Vietnam. In 1987 Mr. Kubrick made a movie. A great movie. But I must say he pulled from the better of the genre. The boys from Company C. Look at the similarities. You will see that that The Boys from Company C was the original.

I think the sniper scene in Full metal jacket was amazing because the sniper was a women and in most films it is usually a man and it really depicts vietnam a war against every sex which is the reality of it.

Something about the duality of man, sir.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  May 6, 2001

Just great. What can I say? I love Kubrick. Not his masterpiece but a great movie. I loved Lee Ermey's character, but I feel pretty much identified with Joker (Mathew Modine) and his duality of man theory. For me, the best war movie ever, although the comparisons to "Platoon" and "Apocalypse Now" seem inevitable... A MUST-SEE.

Great opener, hard to follow up.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 7, 2001

The opening scenes of training are so damn good that everything else seems to fall into a murky quagmire after that and never return. I think i'll need to see it again, but I agree with some others here, the movie feels disjointed. Could have been a great 20 minute Kubtrick short instead.

somehow does not fully add up

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 27, 2001

apt descriptions of training camp paranoia (with real life DI sergeant taken out of retirement to play himself) and single outstanding combat scene (the sniper, towards the end) but disjointed middle, impression of fifteen minute episodes glued together

THE 2nd GREATEST WAR MOVIE OF ALL TIME

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 18, 2000

Next to Saving Private Ryan, this was the greatest war movie I've ever seen and I have seen plenty. It is a great blend of hardcore war scenes and good comedy. I love how realistic it is. Stan Kubrick works his magic again. This is a definate must see.

    Outstanding!!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 19, 2000

Kubrick, the master, does it again. I have seen this movie dozens of times and each time I come away with something new. Kubrick seperates the story into two very distinct acts. The first, Marine recruit training, is wickedly funny and at the same time dehumanizing and ultimatley horrifying. R. Lee Emry (Sp?) deserved an Oscar for his portrayal of Gun.Sgt. Hartman. The second half, combat in Vietnam, resemlbes a conventional war movie with a twist. It also has funny moments,"..the Jungian thing sir.." but again resolves itself in dehumanizing horror. This movie should be viewed again and again. It rewards the viewer each time.

    Full Metal JAcket (1987)

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 9, 2000

AMAZING! Stanley Kubrick's shatteringly brilliant condemnation of the Vietnam War is, quite frankly, the best film ever made. There are no war films as good, and the only one that comes close is Apocalypse Now. Matthew Modine is brilliant as Joker, but the best performance is by vincent D'Onofrio as Pyle.

The Best War Movie I've Ever Seen!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 10, 2000

The first time I saw this movie, I knew that this was going to be my favorite movie of all time. I reccomend that anyone not just see it, but go out and buy it. It is an exelent movie because it combines Drama, Comedy, Action, and History in a perfected symphony. Even if you hate war movies, you will love this movie. Saving Private Ryan doesn't even compare to this movie and nothing ever will.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 15, 2000

"7point six two milimeter.....full metal jacket....." pvt.Pile-just before he shoots sgt.Hartman, then himself. Ahh, full metal jacket, my family and myself use so many of the quotes from that great movie. The movie is all about the marines in Vietnam. In my opinion, it is by far the best Stanley Kubrick film. I think that every American should see this movie, just like they should see Saving Private Ryan.It is an absolute masterpeice.

    An instant classic

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 9, 2000

Unlike most Stanley Kubrick's other sybolical movies such as, 2001: A Space Odysey and Clockwork Orange. This movie portray's the life of Private Joker, played by Mathew Modine, in the Vietnam War. This movie starts at the start of boot camp for the marine recruits(Including Private Joker) on Parris Island being led by the ever present Drill Instructor Hartman, played by Lee Ermy. This movie is a true to life look at the interior and exterior war that was, Vietnam.

You want to see Tet 1968...this is it.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 30, 1999

This movie is one of the most accurate portrayals of the marine experience during Viet Nam. If you look at the cinematography during the battle in Hue, you can see where Spielberg got some inspiration for his best movie ever (Saving Private Ryan). If you enjoy war movies...this one is a must-see.

This movie rocks. From the humorous and sadistic drill sergeant, to the blood-soaked city in Vietnam, this epic about some young Marines is moving and evocative of Saving Private Ryan. I love this movie.

    This is a must see!!!!!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 24, 1999

This is a fucken' funny movie at the start that becomes alot more serious as the story gets going but is able to keep some humour in a topic that you can't always see a funny side to. I fully rate this movie and I think that anyone that likes action and humour rolled into one will enjoy this moive.
